Yeap, I've come to that conclusion also. I'm going to have to stop listening to all of the advice I have been getting. I'm changing the top section of the tower to except a thrust bearing and mount the rotor inside of the tower. Unfortunately the Hy-Gain Tailtwister will not fit inside of the...
Is there such a thing as a 2" O.D. non-metallic tubing that's strong enough to support a 41 lb. antenna? I suppose fiberglass for example. Does anyone else use anything other than steel mast material?
The steel 2" O.D. mast I have weighs about 35 lbs. by itself.
I've done a little research and can't find an answer to my question.
I'm in the process of putting up a 5 element vertical/horizontal beam antenna using a 2" diameter steel mast.
What are the recommendation on the height of the antenna above the top of a Rohn 25G tower? Are there any...
That's absolutely correct. I would like to know where the OP got his information and what he's basing it on without an almost side-by-side comparison. In either case I just ordered a Jo Gunn JG 5+5 Cross.
I have to agree. I had a 6 element Cross Jo Gunn up for 14 years. It survived a major ice storm a wind storms with 70 to 85 mph wind gust with no damage. I would have to say that the 4 element Shooting Star that the Jo Gunn replaced would not have faired nearly as well. There is one point about...
ad my MFJ 4275MV for about 6 months. It has been doing a great job powering my entire station. The MFJ power supply runs my ICOM IC-718, ICOM IC-R7100, TX Star Mod-V PLus and Messenger 350 on a daily basis. Everything I currently have in service runs off of 12 volts. I was impressed that the MFJ...
Been there done that with a Laser 400. 45 lbs. and 40 feet long antenna over the house is enough to make most people a little nervous. Even though I had a top of the line rotor and control, the winds we get here in Oklahoma can sure make an antenna dance. I wouldn't suggest that anyone have only...
