This is where I am stuck, the third step of the alignment as per the Sams Photofact and a few other sources:
Input of frequency counter through a
47pF capacitor to TP20 (IC1 Pin 7).
Ch. 19, AM
Check for 10.240MHz.
Input of oscilloscope to TP21 (L21 Secondary).
Ch. 19, AM
L21
Adjust for...
I am having trouble with an alignment on an old president Grant I picked up.
The trouble is I am not able to get a frequency reading on tp21, the bare lead of r101. What am I doing wrong?
The radio works properly I just want to get the alignment spot on
What happened to the guy that made the m80 modulators?
His site is still up and I ordered a few of his different kits but they were never shipped and PayPal refunded my money.
Because it is a stock radio. A properly set up NPC-Rc mod will give you the swing you are looking for. Should be similar to the 2950 surface mount board.
I have taped lightly on the elements before and got them to start working, I like the electret condenser elements but they don't match the warmth of the old element.
Also I recommend cleaning the leaf switch with a burnishing tool, and if the mic has a lazy bar and a chicken choker I add a small...
90% of the radios we sell across from the truck stop on I40. It is hard to get my boss to order the ssb models because they set longer. Hopefully this one will be a little cheaper than the 39vhp plus.
I run the big galaxy 2517 on my base, nice big meters, good receve stable and I find it quite fast for scanning through the 3 bands of 11 meter I run. If I had the extra cash I would bring home a 69 base for the 10 and 12 meter coverage as It is just an updated version of the same board. Good...
my 69vhp has no flicker, more stable than one of my locals 955 version1. The 6900xxx series boards are as stable as any old school uniden when working properly.
The digital radios don't tell on themselves when they drift .
The 69ffb4 was pretty stable on ssb even with the 500watts of heat on the bottom. My Galaxy 95t is also very stable with 150 watts heat on the bottom.
I have ran an unstable 95t2 that was putting out close to 250 and it drifted like a sailboat and soon found a home with a lover of big watts...
It is sad how much good information has been lost from the glory days of bbs and web forums. Now search results on google are an endless stream of ai generated garbage or you have to watch a 30 minute video for a piece of info that you could have found in 2 minutes scanning a forum post.
As far as "Best ssb CB radio under 300" the 959 would be my choice of fcc approved cb radios. Good power output that can be improved with a better final transistor, easily modifiable for extra frequencies unlike any other ssb cb currently available. Tone control on receive, good frequency...
