I'll check the cap and Q57 and see what's what and get back with you, thanks handy Andy.
FM is out no carrier and no sound transmitted. Seems only sideband upper and lower is the only tx I'm getting. Am transmits but very low modulation dead heading at around 40% and swings no farther. Wattage...
Not sure about cap changes, everything looks factory. The radio sit over a year and my buddy can't remember if it worked when he put it in his safe or not or if that's the reason he started using his 2995dx Because the 2970 went out. But I remember him using it when he got it and it worked fine...
I have no transmit carrier on fm and no sound on tx, radio works fine on lsb and usb wattage looks good and modulation meter swings like it should. I just have very low modulation around 40% with everything wide open with any power setting and no carrier on fm. FM not working at all, I have a...
Thank you NX8N, I'll check those and get back with you. This is the 2970 model with 2x2290 transistors. Does not say dx anywhere on the faceplate and its not an n2.
EPT295013Z main board. Again thank you.

If I put a 1khz tone into the mic I get around 40% modulation with the mic gain all the way up and vr turned wide open with rf power turned all the way down, it's almost acting like the limiter is taking the modulation down by too much. But voltages are off so I don't think the audio amps are...
Hello it's me again, again lol. A friend just brought me an rci 2970 that has very low if any modulation on am (screaming in mic) and almost nothing out, barely moving mod meter and wiggling watt meter. Radios rf power turns wattage up and down and has modulation on fm, lsb, and usb. Adjust from...
Hahahahaha I feel stupid now, I was turning it the wrong way. It set both finals to 50ma and together 100ma split between the two. Thanks Robb and everyone for their help. This is one of the best website forums I've been on for info about these kind of problems that are sometimes hard to figure...
Sorry wasn't specific, the driver still reads 50ma testing between tp8 and tr9. When testing between tr7 and tr9 for the finals its pegging the ammeter on 250 scale.
It only read in one direction but changed it anyways where it's still in a trouble spot, didnt want it to be the 1 part that stopped everything from working. I changed the mv1y diode and tr43 and not I'm showing ma on my analog meter but its pegging the 250ma scale and I cant get it to go down now.
That was my next step, just wanted to check beforehand. Gonna change mv1y and tr43 and check it again, I checked mv1y with a diode setting on my digital volt meter, it read only one way when removed from the circuit but read short when checked in circuit on both finals diodes. I also checked for...
Replaced all parts but vr10 in the diagram and still no adjustment from vr10, I tested vr10 with an ohm meter and seems to be working but have to find another like it to change it just in case. Also d88 was ok when tested. Vr16 low power still does nothing when adjusted also.
Thanks a bunch Robb, definitely needed that diagram. I'll try that first and see what's going on in the circuit and get back with you. Want to add that the radio did 20 watts swing before tuning everything to 50ma that would go to 50ma on the final side and it only swings to 9 watts with audio...
