Wouldn't the 1/2 wave antenna you described is actually a 3/4 wave when taking into account the vehicle it's attached to?
Isn't the vehicle part of the antenna system. 1/4 wave part.
Just a thought.
When i say loud I mean 100 watts to 400 watts swing in your face power that will be there for 10 to 15 miles. A radio that can not be mistaken for a 4 to 16 watt 100% that may be loud but only loud in the truckstop.
A radio that has 100 to 150% modulation swing and when you talk into it your...
Ya, your right I didn't read all the material associated with the velocity factor.
But that is why most CB shops tell you to use 18' of coax, and that is why most packages come in those lengths. They don't take in to consideration the velocity factor.
LOL I'd like to see the meter that does 400 watts from 4 1446 pills.
unless your talking peak to peak now that a different story. Mine will do 150 watts deadkey to 1325 watts on Peak to Peak. :D
Money well spent. :D 8)
The only reason to use 18' of coax is to get an accurate reading on a SWR meter near your radio.
As long as the antenna is tuned. Then you could use any length of coax.
And like Marconi said sometimes a choke is a good thing. It may even clean your TX and take out Harmonics in your system...
Just any radio with a 2x4 wouldn't sound as good as my connex. :D Maybe a connex 3300hp with a 2X4 would. or any radio that's comparable.
Sure there are much cheaper ways to get there.
the 4300-300 is such a nice packaged radio and with the 2879's it just that much nicer.
I wouldn't...
Although Its fun saying that my radio has the 2879's. It really didn't do much like i said before.
It does sound very nice and I get a lot of compliments on the sound of of the radio.
It does give me bragging rights that I have the biggest radio out there. 8) along with others that have...

your actually getting 400 watts out of this radio DTB?
All I'm getting is 300 watts with lots of modulation. I like the radio though. Seems to get out very well; Don't like the echo board.
Maybe should have waited till the 98vhp came out. Seems like I'm being short change if that radio...
DTB have you had time to look at this issue yet?
Just bought the 4300-300 and the echo isn't quite as touchy as the one on the 4600 turbo, but it still doesn't work quite as I would like it to can't get that hollow sound that I like.
Also having problem with the talk back on this radio...
The Dosy meter shows forward swing. It's just on someone Else's receive that it shows backward swing when we're 10 to 15 miles apart.
I guess I'm not making myself clear enough.
ok this what a friend saw on his radio meter and I see it also on my receive end from his radio.
I put a meter on my radio and amp and it's swings forward on the dosy meter, but he sees a backward swing on his meter at about 15 miles away.
I'm probably driving my amp to hard for sure...
What causes a back swing on a radio or radio attached to an amp?
I saw one go from 7s signal then modulate to a 3s signal. It sounded as if it was a 7s signal though.
