Why does a stick out perform coil antennas if this is true. I don't build antennas for appearance, I build them to perform. Apperance takes care of itself. The only reason for the added coil is to shorten the overall length, impedance bump or not.
What I meant was the shorter antenna(in...
Re: s
LoneWolf, The 17" shaft and the 22" shaft should get lower than the 1.3 reading. There is nothing wrong with 1.3 at all. You guys are spoiled to flat swr readings when it doesn't have to be that low to perform well. There is now noticable difference in performance from 1.5 on down to 1.0...
MADMAXS, you can probably take the small coil out of line and get the swr down some more. You will most likely need a longer stinger whan you do this. If so, email me at cowtown10k@msn.com and I will send you one. 1.5 isn't a bad reading if you aren't going to be running big watts. Kale
Re: d
LoneWolf, I don't know what kind of vehicle you are mounting the 10K on or where you have it mounted but there is a possibality that you might not have the best 10K for the vehicle you are mounting it on. I build 10K's with two coils and single coils and 6 different length shafts for just...
Switch Kit, the 10K is made out of .o58 wall 6061-T6 heat treated aluminum tubing. It is feather light. The tubing is tapped out and all parts are screwed together. NOTHING PRESSED. A welded together antenna will weigh quite a bit more because it requires a thicker wall in order to prevent...
The horizontal antenna doesn't talk all that much "flat side" but keeps more of the signal on the ground and is a very good antenna for talking skip. Kale
skirtchaser, how many coil antennas have you tested in the desart? Have you tested any of the 10K's yet? If you have, which one did you test and what vehicle did you test it on?Kale
I never have and never will build an antenna with a flat coil. An old Ham told me years ago that RF does not like flat surfaces and sharp edges but round. I don't know if this is true or not. If RF travels on the outside, how is it going to get any more on the outside than by THIN wall tubing...
Logan, the 10K isn't all that young. It's been around for 11 years. It's taken about 8 years of that to get enough of them out there for people to know what they are and what kind of product they are. I've done the best I can with them and always looking for any improvement I can to make it...
jjohson, the crutches was not my antennas. They was antennas created by Judge Roy Bean ( 51 in Dallas). You're right. He got beat in the final rounds after shutting down 4 in the 4 pill class. There was 10 that entered in the 4 pill class and he had to key 4 times and went to the finals and...
Re: mm smoked 10 -k
smalltiredart, don't quit at that. Run the Monkey for a week and then put the 10K back on and run it for a week. I don't claim to build an antenna that will work on every vehicle. Any one that claims that their antenna is the best for all vehicles DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE...
jeffrice6, I build two types of mounts. One for the so239 coax connector and one for the heavy duty for the lug terminal. It sounds like there are some parts missing. If you will email me or call 817-790-6239 and let me know more about it, maybe I can help fix the problem. cowtown10k@msn.com...
