Hey t23 in all of your post you are always talking about how hard it is to come by radio gear in your area. Why not buy used or new online? Just a thought to help you get some gear.

What about the p5 p6 switch mod, it looks easier. Also where could I get the switches for that mod. Would the radio have to be aligned after the mod. I am hoping to do this myself so any help will be appreaciated.

Ok the swr has finally stayed put for a few days now, and it is higher on channel 1 than 40. This weekend I am going to take my antenna down and lenghten it to adjust the swr. Also going to seal the connecter, and hopefully this will fix the problem. I will let you guys know how it goes.

No way will a stock radio work. That radio will dead key three or four watts max. I don't recomend putting more than a 1-2 watt dead key into it, or you will burn it up fast. I am sure others will agree.

I think I will try the sealant as soon as time permits to take my antenna back down. Hopefully this will fix the problem as it is a great antenna other than the swr changing problem.

Mine does drift slightly on ssb but it sounds great on both am and ssb. It is a great little radio in my opinion.

Just checked my swr. 1.1:1 on channel 1, 1.8:1 on 20, and 1.9:1 on channel 40. Why the heck is it changing so much????? I am so confused what is the problem? Its only been a couple a hours since it was pefect now it's messed up again.

Sory about that. Alright now what the heck is going on!! This morning I got up and checked my swr again, same radio meter and everything I didn't even turn my radio off last night. On channel 1 and 40 I have the same 1.5:1, but now on 20 I have a 1.1:1. Which is what the antenna was tuned for...

Sadly my radio is just a straight 40 channel radio. I am going to take the antenna down this weekend if time permits, and double check to make sure its together right.

I had the antenna assembled for about a year and a half at 16 feet to the feed point. Yesterday I raised it up to 40 feet. I just took the antenna down put it on the new mast and raised it up i didn't change anything that I know of. I am stumped too:(

The only channels I talk on are channel 4 AM and 37,38, and 39lsb I have about a 1:5 on all of these channels so I guess I am ok. I just wish it was under 1:5 on all 40 channels though.

I finally got around to moving my antenna up. I moved it from 16 feet to 40 feet to the feed point. I noticed a 1 S unit increase in my rx and tx, so it was worth the effort and time to me. Also I have a 1:5 swr on channel 1 and 40 but it raises up to 1:8 on channel 15 and then slowly goes back...
