Sorry I posted 20 watts don't know what I was thinking. Mine is the newer version which has Mosfet finals in it and I see 30 watts output on AM from a 7 watt dead key. Or I can dead key 2 watts and still swing over 20. Again it will give the Cobra 2000 a run for its money.
Oh my gosh!!!!! I was just about to post the same thread except it was going to be about the whole radio combined..
Now to answer your question. I have a galaxy 2547 and get around 20 watts on AM. I have a turner 454 non amplified desk mic and it sounds great. I don't even have the internal...
I still am not sure wether to get the 949 or the 959. I don't know if its worth saving about $25.00 when I could just go ahead and give a little extra and get the frec counter in the 959. What do you guys think?
I saw galaxy 949 referbs for 95.00 and the clarifier is unlocked from sparkys would this be a good radio. I am really starting to lean towards this or the 959 referb the only defference in the two is the 949 doesn't have the frec counter. Which should I get?
Looking to upgrade my moible in the next couple of months. Right now I have a cobra 29. I either want one or two things maybe both. More power or ssb again not necessarily both. I also like the idea of having a 10 meter radio as this would be my first one. My ideas are a galaxy 959. Sparkys has...
I think I heard that some where too. Maybe that is why the turner 454 sounds so good because it is unamplified. I will probably just kepp the mic I have then.
I have a galaxy 2547 with a turner 454x mic that I patched together. I have not got a bad report yet but I would like to upgrade my mic. If I understand correctly a d-104 is not the right impedance. If not please correct me. So if that is true what would be a good desk mic other than the d-104...
As far as I know you are allowed to listen as long as you don't trasmit without you license. 2 meters is very popular in most areas so I would give that a try. I also hope to get my license soon too.
Yea I was just hoping for the roger beeps to dissapear not the acual person LOL. I am sorry I made it sound so wrong. I guess It was just texas, and as of right now I don't hear any more spanish people with roger beeps so I'm happy.
I have heard how great the conditions are for the past several days but all I have heard is spanish skip, even on the super bowl channel. Today is the first day I have heard english on the radio in sometime now.. Conditions aren't very good right now but I hope they improve so I can make some...
You need to try and mount the antenna as high as possible. The 102" whip and wilson 1000 are both great antennas. Personaly I like the 102' whip a little better than the wilson 1000, but you can't go wrong with either of them.
I have a few more radios that are not pictured. The galaxy 2547 is a great radio and I get great reports with the turner 454x. I am still working on my station and can't wait to get more toys. I will try to post pics of the antenna soon. It's a maco 5/8.
