I agree with Shockwave on everything he said. I would only add that sometimes depending on the amp I used to use a little lower impedance resistors..but I think all of his advice is excellent and right on the money.

Yes, more or less. On most radios there is a "main" limiter which usually shunts the mic audio depending on the voltage to the base of the transistor. This or part of the circuit will disable the ALC and AMC. Other parts of the circuit will only disable the AMC for AM only. It just depends on...

Go with DTB. A birdie in my ear once told me he has info from Bill and Justin both from CA who helped with the design. Bill took the 2900 series and did a lot of improvements on it and while RCI only did about half of what was recommended..it became the 2950. Then after Bill passed away in 2003...
