Yeah...meh..OK. Cool but a lot of trouble to go through for a radio chassis that is really outdated now and up there in age. While I like the chassis and agree it's better than a lot of what is out there..realize this design came up in 1986 and then again in 1988 and is old. Saying that it is...
No worries. It's all good. But to those that think this board is biased (pardon the pun) try that crap and crap radio theory over at eham or qrz and see what happens. At least people here will try to steer you in the right direction and realize we all started somewhere. Over there you'll just be...
Oh also worth mentioning.. the 485's could be expanded..kind of a pain to do but doable...also the clarifer could be locked in..that was the easy part.
One more thing before I forget..the reason I would usually go with a little lower in resistance is because usually these amps get overdriven and given that with the added stability it just makes sense to me.
I just looked at the photos and you're right. Not to make anyone upset but I don't know how they get away with building these things like this. So many issues but they could be solved if they would change the design a little. I guess the end goal is copy a design that already has issues...add to...
Yep..white guys are on there too. You don't have to be black..just repeat yourself a lot and fake laugh for no reason a lot into the mic...example..
Yeah......(pause) yeah... I heard that mr. Two two six I did (fake laugh) worldwide duckplucka on this end and we just got down bye buh bye bye...
I agree with Shockwave on everything he said. I would only add that sometimes depending on the amp I used to use a little lower impedance resistors..but I think all of his advice is excellent and right on the money.
I knew one guy who actually ran so much power and just crap as far as setup his signal was almost 100khz wide. Big no name shiny metal boxes. Anyways..he ended up with water blisters on his back...usually after running his mobile station for a couple days. He would chill out and not run it and...
Yes, more or less. On most radios there is a "main" limiter which usually shunts the mic audio depending on the voltage to the base of the transistor. This or part of the circuit will disable the ALC and AMC. Other parts of the circuit will only disable the AMC for AM only. It just depends on...
Go with DTB. A birdie in my ear once told me he has info from Bill and Justin both from CA who helped with the design. Bill took the 2900 series and did a lot of improvements on it and while RCI only did about half of what was recommended..it became the 2950. Then after Bill passed away in 2003...
