Sonoma, So sorry to hear about your wife. Hope things have gotten better with her and not turn to the worse. Thoughts and prayers sent your way!
Yeah this radio is a bit mind blowing on how they jumped across areas to get the needed power to operate. Even one of the wiring sockets has cut wires...
I would love to share info on this site but as you see out of 107 views and only Sonoma was kind enough to make a reply. He seems to be about the only one that helps folks out anymore.
All the others that use to ask all kinds of questions back in 2008 /2009 when they first started out now don't...
Yes sir that is my first place to visit when looking for data. The 380 is not using the same chip.
The board I am working on is 9821R20 board using KS8805BD PLL chip
Yep Shawn sent me the info. Still stumped on this radio. I need a voltage chart to figure out where the power loss is. This radio has a KS8805BD PLL chip along with IC011 being LM358M chip. Never ran across on of these radios and finding info on it has been a hair puller.
Would anyone by chance have a Magnum S-380 laying around that I can get a picture of the bottom side of the board? I need a close up pic of the bottom side of board behind the channel display side of the radio just past the three shield plates.
Thank you.
Came across this while surfing the net. Seems to be a cool idea to pump it up some.
I built one of the old style type like Buddy has but the volume is a bit low so this just one just might do the trick.
Update! I found the problem! L6 seems to have a problem. After ohm and volt testing all the receive cans I found L6 dead. Replaced that can and she is now back up and running.
Thanks again everyone for the help.
C8 was not the cure. PLL and VCO alignment checks out good.
R85 set to max on scope
R88 set to 3.2 volts
R17 set to max on scope
TP3 "R17" 16.270 is good
PLL and Fet 2 showing 10.240
Thanks 2FB,
Buddy has this on his site and I read it then went through it step by step.
Every part checked good and the freq's are on.
Even changed each part to make sure.
I think LC is on the right path telling me C8. There is something blocking the signal from entering and C8 makes sense as...
Frog,
Your missing what I am saying all together. As said before there is no RX to this radio! With or with out Ant hooked up, With or with out my SG hooked up. The RX is pure dead!
No S RX on meter and no RX coming in from the good radio. If you read my post where I spoke of putting two...
No LC,
There is nothing hooked to the radio other then power and mic. You hear the noise with the radio just laying there with nothing hooked to it. Wish I had taken a video of it because I know you guys think I am crazy..LOL
Thanks LC,
Yeah there is a few not correct on CB Tricks but I worked my way around them. Making me a chart from using a brand new un-touched 29 with all the factory voltages. One way to skin a cat right?
I will try C8 and see what happens. It will be Monday before I will have a change to...
LOL Yeah frog it has. I made a switch to plug in to keep cord crap out of the way but yes it has had a couple bench mikes hooked up testing the output audio.
As said in post none of the receive cans adjust anything. Nothing had been adjusted before this happen. Just hooked it up seen signal was not high enough turn radio volume to max and BAM. This is mind blowing is the only reason I posted. I been working on this thing off and on for days now...
Radio Shop "Buddy" has a video with the sound I get. Check time 41 secs on this video and when he turns the radio on then up there is the only noise I get.
