    ANTRON A99

What do you have up now??? A-99 is a half decent antenna. Easy to assemble and put up. Good SWRS. Antennas with upgraded and better performance would be: These are antennas i have personally used: Imax 2000 has better performance than A-99. Maco 5/8 has alittle better performance than...

SWR Goes up in the rain?

What kind of antenna was you matching? Base or mobile? Your SWRs seem high. You should achieve the same SWR reading on ch 40 as you do on ch 1. If you are tuning the antenna for ch 20 . For instance on my base antenna. Mine's tuned best for ch.35 instead of channel 20. Because i talk more...

    Maco 5/8 VS. I-Maxx

A properly tuned Maco V 5/8 will outperform the Imax 2000 on recieve and transmit. You will not see a major difference. I once ran the Imax 2000 and had trouble with RFI,TVI along with a high static noise floor. But, if it's working good for you and your having no problems, i wouldn't...

Top One Ground Plane Base Antenna

I ran the Top One for alttle while. It's comparable in performance to a A-99 in my opinion. I got alot less noise on the Top One compared to fiberglass antennas i've tried here though. Not bad and not great. The aluminum is not the best, but, it should last for awhile.

    HELP NEEDED

The best height is 36ft or higher to the bottom of antenna. (Where coax connector plugs in)... If you can't get it up safely to that height, get it up as far as you can. Yes, use a steel mast on antenna. Your SWRS should lower once you get it away from everything. Also as stated by FL...

    Maco V58 or 5000

Pointer, Also a true test is to have both antennas in the same exact spot, same height. I have dead spots here in certain areas. I can mount 2 antennas same height, but, 20 ft or so away from each other and the one out more toward the yard will drop 3 S-units. Mount it where the other...

re post put in wrong area

Vertical is better for local talking. Horz is usually better for DX. The Antron 99 is a Omnidirectional antenna. It will get out equal in all directions. Decent for local talking and DX. The beam will provide better performance when pointed in the direction of who you are talking too...

re post put in wrong area

The Verticle side and flat (horz) side each have a gamma match system that needs adjusted for best SWRS. Follow the directions in your owners manual. First set the Vert for best SWR. Then set the Horz gamma match for best SWR.
