    148GTL MOD Picture

I don't think you can call it "muting" when changing freaks rather that when trolling between freaks there is a no sound spot in between so when you change channels kind of rapid you just don't hear anything . Changing them slowly you can hear the intermittent sounds.

    148GTL MOD Picture

Yes you can easily spin the rotary dial faster than the unit can follow but once you realize this it then becomes second nature. It is very critical between one frequency to another as it takes very little movement to go from one freek to another. I don't have any detents in my rotary dial and...

    Mobil install..Coax length??

I get what you are saying but would you call Wilson antenna a noob or misinformed because they recommend 18' I don't think they even sell coax so I don't know what their ulterior motive would be? I just received my 9" of coax that I plan on using if it is long enough.

    pin the coax!

I sold a radio to a good friend of mine in 89 and someone pinned his coax. He called me up and I went over to his house to see what the problem was he had with the radio and I discovered the broke off pin in his coax. This was in So Cal.

    148GTL MOD Picture

I just got this back yesterday. As you can see the vfo box mounted to the bottom side of the radio. The audio, receive have been modded and the clarifier opened it now has more places to talk. The 6 digit freak counter also follows the clarifier and displays the frequencies when the vfo is...

FCC at the tolls and scales

Arrest, ban, confiscate, no probable cause, lockup, cite, fine, prosecute, etc Americans so the rest of the world can talk on their ten meter amplified no height restricted antenna radio's so there won't be any annoying skip from us to maybe get in their way! Other countries outside the US would...

    Mobil install..Coax length??

I only looked up a T2000 Trucker series which you have to provide your own coax. Your mag mount comes with a predetermined length.

    Wilson antenna advice

I'm pretty sure we are only seeing half of that antenna. Show us a picture of the Explorer and the whole antenna or do you have to do a panoramic view.

FCC at the tolls and scales

I really didn't get into the actual difference but just a few things are..We have to take physical examinations annually.. There are now extensive background checks..You are over the limit for alcohol at .04 and get this even if you are driving a VW you will be arrested if your alcohol level is...

    Another HR2510 problem

I have a HR2510 and it works wonderfully. It has the chipswitch and tune up etc. One thing I noticed about this recent purchase is the receive audio is just not as intelligible as some of my other radio's. I seem to notice it when on AM. I bought 2 computer speakers which has helped but when I...

    Mobil install..Coax length??

I didn't think that 9 feet to 18 feet was any concern as to loosing any measurable signal due to line loss but what do you do with 9 feet of extra coax was my real concern. I bought the 9 feet to try and eliminate coiling it up which could have a real affect on transmit. I went to Wilson...

Nice editing on my post DB and I won't criticize every sentence you have written but I will say that you are wrong that I go by name and only purchase what I need based on that. My base station antenna is a Sirio Star Duster. I own Cobra radio's 29's 148GTL etc and also Galaxy, Fuzz Buster Z80...

    Wonderful people in Europe

I don't talk much skip but when I do they are in all parts of Europe and everyone is so polite and professional and seem very anxious to talk to us here in the states. I hope that us Americans are as professional and polite in return as for a lot of us Americans you are our original home lands.

FCC at the tolls and scales

I hold a commercial license and the rules between a regular DL and Commercial are quite different. I have not experienced this FCC at the scales as I run intra state and drive a state truck also..I basically get a automatic green light but a few years a go I was running from Ca to NY and felt...

    Mobil install..Coax length??

I am replacing my Cobra 29LTD radio and replacing my cheap oil coil antenna with a Wilson Trucker 18 inch shaft and a Galaxy DX959 modded out. What I am not sure of does Coax length make a big difference in mobile performance? I have right now in my Tacoma I believe is 18 feet of coax which is...

    Wilson antenna advice

I am assuming that everyone on this forum knows that a 102" whip is what other antenna's are using as the best in performance and that this whip is also made of the right alloy's etc etc. In todays world a 102" whip is just to big so we are looking for in a condensed version of a antenna that...
