Me either, maybe someone finally caught up with him and beat him with his whip antenna!
You pretty much nailed it. Those guys livin the channel up, but they also tend to lock it down because they are so popular, especially Rock Steady giving his traffic reports and talking to the truckers...
I think it sounded so loud because I was less than a mile away. I was literally down the street. Maybe I'll post another one a couple of miles away and a little further from the mic. I did with my other radio and it didn't sound so loud.
CB has been dead in the Houston area too due to their...
It came with the Icom mic and sounded too muffled on AM. Thanks for the feedback, the NR seems to flatten the sound too much on AM, on SSB I think it is ideal, just my preference.
Yep, I was surprised how loud it was after I turned the audio up inside. It was actually louder than this before I turned the mic gain pot down and it still didn't sound bad, just not the sound I was going for.
Yes I noticed this too and ANL would have eliminated most of it on AM. I just don't think they care much about AM over there as they use mostly FM and SSB. I don't know why ANL is even a switchable option on these types of radios. I have never seen a need to turn it off. The NB however can...
Been busy, will try and post a video tomorrow of the MK3 in action on AM with the Xtreme 2018 mic. I wouldn't say static level is necessarily better per say, but the stronger receive makes the signal to noise much better. It doesn't seem like there is a built in ANL. The receive picks up more...
I got the radio today and the receive is so much better than my Cobra 25 or Lincoln 2. Before when I would drive around my neighborhood I would get 3 to 5 and even sometimes 9 lb of noise in some spots. Now it is almost the same everywhere I go with practically no static. I got on the main...
I second the Sirio performer 5000 as being a good antenna. When I switch from the Wilson 1000, people could hear me that couldn't before. My only gripe is the cheap coax that comes with the mag mount, but it is easy to change out. If you want an amp, I wouldn't bother with anything under 300 or...
Relax guys. I was just pointing out that some hams worrying about things that are not really enforced under the law, like that HR2010 needing to be thrown out and that prick father about bootlegging a VHS. I'm a ham myself. It's all good.
I just remembered something from my childhood. A kid I used to hang out with, his dad was a ham. He was a prick to me on several occasions over the years. When I was 12 or so I had just got into CB radio the year before and was studying to get my ham license. I went to ask him a question about...
It's amazing how some people are about people using real ham equipment on CB, even though that equipment often sounds better and causes less undesirable interference than most CB's out there. Look at the filtering on most CB's and look at it on a quality ham rig.
I saw a post on Radio...
Sorry, but that is a pretty dumb statement. There are several reasons for talk back. Some people like to hear themselves while driving on a noisy road. It's the same reason they have monitors on a stage of a concert. Talk back gives you a rough idea how you sound on the air. You know that you...
The main downfall I see with the MKIII is it doesn't have talkback and doesn't have PA. I have a PA speaker installed on my truck, I don't use it much, but it would be nice to have without putting a stand alone, not a deal breaker. I watched pretty much watched every video on this radio and it...
Thanks guys. The web page looks a little outdated so I wasn't sure it would be in stock. I emailed them and they confirmed it is in stock. The total price with shipping is $318. I sent them the payment and will give it a try. I was reading some post here and elsewhere on it and pretty much...
Yes I have the version 3. It does a good job of making stations far away seem loud. A station putting S3 sounds about as loud as a station putting S9. When I'm not getting that horrible electrical noise in certain areas, usually near businesses, the receive is great, much better than my Cobra...
