Wilson Silver load and Skipshooter. Both great antennas. I have a 4.5 ft and 7 ft Skipshooter and a 4 ft and 5 ft Silver Load Wilson. All are great, imo.
I had one for nearly 3 yrs and somehow, water got in it finally. It was a GREAT antenna. And, just a bit over half the price of a Wilson. If I ever bought another one, I'd change the coax to LMR-240 and seal that dude immediately before installing.
(Fyi, I change all my mobile mounts and mag...
These old threads are GREAT!
Especially, if you're like me and first time reading them. I too have a 4.5 ft skipshooter I use with a spring and 3 mag mount on top dead center of my 2002 extended cab pickup and it is a great antenna. Tuned SWR to 1.1 and 1.2 from 1 to 40. Great local talker and...
Another old thread but, here goes.
I have the
Browning BR-28 High-Performance Broad Band 63- Inch CB Antenna ROUND coil and for what it is, it's an excellent antenna. Talks and hears great and very low SWR. I'll check it out better once I get my Rig Expert.
Speaking of SWR Readings, I'm about to bite the bullet and order a Rig Expert AA-35 Zoom analyzer.
My wife just got a nice raise so, I think I can swing it now without too much worry.
Btw, found an interesting article on "Why 50 ohms?"
Thought you all might enjoy the reading...
Lol! For sure. I tried a rubber ducky when I first got back into radio. What a joke haha. Although, dead center on top of my old extended cab pickup I did get a 1.3 to 1.4 swr across the 11 meter band. It just wouldn't transmit or receive that far. Using my old stock Uniden PC 76XL.
Another old post. Yep, I know. But, I'm hooked.
Just wanted to say that next to my 102 SS Whip, my Sirio Performer is the bast antenna I own. Out of about 30 or so different ones hahaha
Not sure what ya call it but, it swings, forward modulates forward between 100 to 120 watts or so.
I don't know if that's "PEP", or not.
I ain't real smart. Hahaha
Not real sure what PEP is.
I'm very impressed with the Almighty Antennas 63" Mobile CB Antenna w magnetic mount. All I've done to it is change the stock coax to LMR-240, (Like I do to all my mag mounts), and it has performed very well. Shot quite of bit of DX right here in the States on it as well. Was a great buy, imho.
Sorry. I know this is an old thread but I have to ask: Where do you guys find these "6 inch springs?"
I have searched the internet and CAN NOT find one. It's ok though, I use a heavy duty barrel spring with a 2 inch quick disconnect on top and get excellent SWR readings on my 102 SS Whip mounted...
Another older thread. These, many of them, are very interesting. Especially since I've never read through them yet. I too like the silver load. Better than a firestick, imo. I have a 5 footer and it is a great antenna. Low SWR and great receive as well as transmit. I won't run it in freezing...
I'll probably be made fun of for this but, (Actually, I'm sure I will), anyway, I have five mag mounts including 2 NMO mag mounts. I cut LMR-240 to exact quarter wave lengths figuring velocity factor for the times microwave LMR-240 and use 27.185 as center in my calculations. Every one of them...
