Stay away from these short antennas, spend the extra $10 and get the K40 or a Firestick type antenna at a minimum. Also the cable is important, that's why some sell for $0.20 /ft and others $2 /ft.
I put a mono Y connector to external speaker jack for record and wired-up mic to accept mono plug for playback. The mic has to be keyed for it to work. Les than $5 in parts.
You might need to add or replace .01 uf bypass caps, sounds like some voltage is getting into the audio. This happened with my turner plus 3. Check out video at 7.28 min on video for 5-pin by-pass caps.
I agree, a good antenna system is very important. You can have a great radio but if the signal can not get out you become a mud-duck. It does not have to cost much but get some wire out there and up a high as you can. If you have a friend with a good antenna analyzer that would help out if your...
Try different ones, the values are good starting points, that's what's this hobby is about. When you find a good combination share it with us. Try to use at least 1/4 watt components for a cb. For a hotter radio you might have avoid using direct circuits and go to coils and toroid's. I once...
Timmy the Tool at snake radio uses Paver cleaner and degreaser attached to his garden hose to "Douche it out" his customers radios, and people pay $40 /hr for this.
I bought LED power supplies on eBay from a place in Washington. 35 amps was around $25. I use it as a test PS, It is holding up pretty well and very little noise.
The good companies like Yaesu, Kenwood, Icom etc. used better quality cap than the cobras or CB's. They will last longer than the CB's but a time will come where the caps go bad. CB's have lower quality components and will go bad faster. But if it works don't fix it may be the way to go. What I...
I'm running 3/4" flat copper braid from my antenna switches ground lugs inside the garage to a copper ground rod 1 foot away from the garage. Also I use adapters to convert 3 pin ac to 2 pin on my power supplies. So far I have no ground loops or RF problems. Hope this helps.
Some people put a resistor in the fan circuit so it always runs a slower, quieter speed. It also lets the regular circuit work if PS gets too hot. Check the forums of the fan kit. I use an Alinco 32Amp switcher and the fan does not make too much noise.
Note a Beringer 802 is not a mixer to use, its a toy, look at the cut off specs, you need at least at 3 channel equalizer to enhance the Mids. Playing with the 802's bass is ok but the high channel doesn't give enough range. However I do use the 802 for Karaoke, the kids love it!
With the old set-up using the 802 with a sure 58 I had good reports but had to repeat myself a lot to get my call out, with the 781 using suggested settings with minor tweaking I bust through the first time, conditions are relative.
