    RD104E

It's a 5 pin thing  . I had the SAME problem. No matter what power mic I used on my cobra 148 or my uniden grant XLs, it would do the same thing you're talking about. A guy that had an online cb shop that's no longer in business, said that it has to do with the grounding being different in...

    need help with tower setup

I agree with W5LZ. A rohn 25 that size won't be easy to raise safely. Mine is 60 ft., and I'm lucky to have it up without anyone getting hurt, and only minor damage to tower.

    Wilson? BarjanLLC

I had heard that the pre-barjan wilsons and k-40s were much better than the new ones, but I have 2 barjan wilson 1000s and a 5000, and have'nt had any problems with them.

    Adjusting SWR with amp

"1.2 SWR now when I turn on the HEAT it goes over 5.0 !!" Chainsawgang, that sounds like an amp input/output tuning problem to me. Have you ever tried a different amp? Friend of mine had me look at his base amp, and it was doing the same thing. It was a 6 pill doing 1,000 watts, but people...

    Adjusting SWR with amp

When I had my toyota 4runner, I ran a roof mounted wilson 5000, and no matter how much grounding I did, I could'nt get the swr below 1.4 on 1 and 40. With the amp on, it was almost 2:1. A guy told me to set it without the amp, and then put the amp in place of the meter, and don't worry about...

    Adjusting SWR with amp

What I want to know, is why my swr changes when I change jumper length between the radio and amp? I have to run it like this... radio--18 ft--amp--any length--meter--antenna With everything in the same order, but change the radio to amp jumper to a shorter one, swr goes higher the shorter it...

Decided on a Ranger 2995 DX!!!

For anyone with power supply/regulator problems with the 2990s, saturn turbos, etc, there is a new fix for it. It's a modular power supply, similar to what's in the 2995. Easy for anyone to install, and under $200. Not sure if it's actually on the market yet, but I saw it in person with my own...

is it me or is the D104 hand mic just better for CB?

THANK YOU! There's a ton of people around here that insist on running power mics in their mobiles, especially the d104m6b. 99% of the time they run it wide open, too. I had a couple guys even refuse to turn it down, lol. They sounded like crap. I personally don't like the way those mics sound...

    Tower questions

I used This stuff texastowers.com/philly.htm for my tower. Worked great. It's a little pricey, but well worth it IMO. It's light weight, easy to work with, and invisible to RF. I used thinbles and clamps on mine, but the grips would be better, and are recomended by the company. As far as guy...

    Why I bought an I-10K...

I need to take a pic from farther away to really show the difference in size between the antenna/tower and the house, LOL. It looks funny because my house is so small. It's an old 1 room schoolhouse 24x28, basically the size of a 2 car garage.

    Why I bought an I-10K...

I forgot I even had them. I found them when i was looking for other pics. It takes quite a bit to bend a I-10K over like that. Those pics were taken in 70+ mph winds.

    Why I bought an I-10K...

I just found these pics, lol. They were taken in june, first storm the antenna had to experience. Had worse since then, to the point that the top hat radials are bent upward :)

    The penetrator

wow, I had no idea you could still get parts for those! I fixed ALL my plastic parts with epoxy, lol. I love my super penetrator, but it's coming down this weekend, and a I-10K is going up in it's place....but 30 ft. higher 8)

Base Antenna HELP to much RF

All ground rods need to be tied together UNDER the ground. That includes the house ground, and the shield of your coax, too. Ground rods that are'nt tied together, can actually generate current. Most computer speakers and cheap electronics, especially phones, will pick up interference no...

    static ball necessary ?

I was having trouble getting my swr down below 1.4 on one of my wilson 1000s as it was high on channel 1, but I had the whip all the way up. I lost that little "ball" off the top since then, and now SWR is flat  . I don't understand it, but I'm not complaining :P . As far as static...

I-10K pics with a lot of ice

1/2 inch of ice is all it took to bring my spectrum 1600 down. That's why I bought an I-10k :D It's going up next weekend. Is that a rotor I see attached to that I-10k?

    coax length-LDF4 heliax

I can't put the tower up, until next weekend :( , but when I do, I want it to be right. I never realized how much it costs to have a decent antenna and tower system! I-10k =320 used tower=150 concrete =80 phillystran kevlar guy wire =240 guy anchors =195 guy bracket =135 turnbuckles =126...

    coax length-LDF4 heliax

Thanks guys. I know in theory, that it should'nt matter, but I've always had problems with my mobiles and even my current base setup. I also was'nt sure if heliax would change anything because of attenuation, velocity, etc. I'll just follow Jay's measurements, and run just enough cable to...
