CB City in Sherwood Park (Edmonton) AB. I've never used them, but they have been around for decades. CB is almost dead in western Canada, truckers and off roaders have moved to VHF.
That "export fee" is a flat rate applied by UPS and the like for brokerage and duty. It does not reflect the...
Actually, I don't "want" to believe anything about the antenna I bought. I really don't care what it is or what it is called. I some of you actually read my original question.....you would understand what I'm asking.
Actually, simple arithmetic led me to buy the antenna. A factory mount set at 8'6" and a 13'6" height restriction meant that a 5' antenna was in order, because the only thing I know about antennas is that commercial radio stations put theirs as high as possible
You guys claim that antennas can...
Well, the manufacturer calls it a 5/8 wave, so that's what I'll call it. You call yourself "Doc" so that's what I'll call you even though you're likely not a physician.
I bought the radio new and modified as it is now, from what was widely regarded as a competent shop. (Canyon Radio). I haven't touched it.

Could you explain this to me, with what symptoms I might experience? I've tried several times to make contacts on SSB, often being able to hear people but then seemingly not hearing me. Could this be related to what you're describing?
Thanks.
OK. So the clarifier turned full CCW is: -10KC and @12 O clock it's -5KC. So do I want it all the way to the right to tune the frequency associated with the channel and then turn it to the left to tune a frequency in between it or the next lower channel? ( I'm not sure what a KC is right now)...
My early 90's 148GTL and 40 channel Vertex VHF stuffed into a 2005 Freightliner. CB runs through a 5' Wilson. VHFs are used almost exclusively by truckers in Western Canada.
OK. Thanks for those links. Unless I've completely missed something, it comes down to this:
#1- 102" whip
#2- everything else....following very close behind
A shop told me that a W5000 would transmit/ receive way better/further than my current single Fiberglass 1000, on my big truck mounted as high as it can be (13' 6")
If all else is equal, is this true?
Is so, why?
Is a W5000 as good as a 102" whip?
Also, remember when people installed 102"...
