Nope looking for good clean audio. I get great reports now from 50 feet away or 20 miles up the road on a good day. This is the answer I was looking for thanks. Looks like I will be keeping my good old 29.

I understand that. I have my dk set I wanna know how much drive the pill can safely handle. For example could the pill handle a 40 watt forward swing from a Galaxy 55 and not over do it and make it sound like crap.
I am asking because I am looking for a new radio but I am not sure what to...
Go halfway down the rod with the stinger and use the stinger to rub the shielding off. Then flip the rod to use the other half. Everyone should do it this way. Better control.

How much drive can a single 2879 drive section safely handle and still put out nice clean sound?
It's in a 1 driving 4. All 2879 DEI pills.

When I read threads like this I wonder we try to drive these amps with these big watt radios when keydowns are won with Cobra 29s.

Don't worry about it. I have not been posting here long but I have lurked here a while and some members have a stick up their bum and no sense of humor. I will probably take crap for saying this but I always prefer truth to lies.

My friend who got me started in radio told me with a good set of plans building an amp is not hard. Understanding what you are doing is. If you don't understand what a part does and why it does it you can't trouble shoot potential problems.
I understand why you want to do it. In any hobby it...
We opened the amp up yesterday and it looked like the relay was hanging up. Took it over to a local guy and he fixed it up.
Thanks for trying to help. I'm new and I guess I don't explain things to good.

Off topic a bit but I have noticed that radio people in general over value their equipment. Asking almost retail prices for used equipment. Meh I guess people are paying.

He said it was common. I was curious though. If the delay is to long is it a problem that should be fixed or just let it go?
**Sorry about the multi post. I have not figured out how to multi quote on my phone.
