Upper lower or am?

Maybe we should designate a channel on this thread that is for us to try and talk skip on? Maybe something other than the hi 30s lsb where all the backup is?

Hope im not hijacking someones thread. I got 1 of these radios about a month and a half ago myself. I enjoy it and get good audio reports. Only negative i have is it seems to have a higher noise floor on lsb than am and makes some low db skip hard to hear. May be a good candidate for a west mtn...

Was able to chat with 702 Jamaica today and a few hours later got ontario canada 235. Pretty exciting for a newby at skip! And a handful of distant states. I often wonder if those i make contact with are members here on wwdx

Talked to a few Michegan stations at lunch on the mobile from here in SC

Thanks for the response. I only talk sideband during skip and i talk pretty fast trying to be heard between other stations. I will give it a try and see if im fast enough lol. It sucks when u get a comeback from another station and i miss their numbers or handle

Bringing this thread back from the dead! I also have an annoying delay on ssb on my rm italy 503hd amp. My pre amp works fine though. Will it hurt anything if i try and transmit on ssb using the am mode on the amp? Or do i need to do some sort of internal mod to amp? Its hard to catch comebacks...

I may have an entire johnson radio i would sell you cheap. I will have to verify its a 323a and then hook up and see if it will get a radio check on channel 19 and go from there

Shadetree Thats what ive been doing. The rf gain is around probably 85 percent and sqeulch at 2 to 3. To silence the noise. When i use auto sqeulch i get sporadic signals. I was wondering if 1 of those myantenna common mode chokes would help drop a s point or 2. 90 bucks is a lotta money for me...

Ok guys now that i have the interference issue solved let me ask another question. When i have rf all the way up on the anytone i get a s4 noise floor. When i unscrew the coax from radio and pull out slightly but leaving the center conducter stuck partially in the radio, the noise floor drops...

I will do some further testing tonight. Hopefully there will be some skip to enjoy

Yep All were tight on the 2 week old tv antenna and amplifier. I think it was prob the onn brand amplifier receiving interference on the new attic tv antenna.

Okay guys check this out. I changed the cheap gas station rg8x coax out for a expensive lmr400 and added the 3rd radial to the base. 99 percent of the interference went away on 1 of my tvs. Ironically the tv antenna furthest away from the cb sirio antenna still recieved interference. (The 2...

I have the 3rd rod. I have my antenna mountwd on a counter lever bracket i made so that when storms are coming i can pull a string and the antenna lays down on the shop roof. With only 2 ground plane rods it is shaped like a T If i added 3rd when it kayed down i would have a 51 inch rod sticking...

Last night i moved the sirio to the back corner of my shop. This is 25 feet further away from the tv antenna. Now i can talk barefoot without tv interference . Still cant transmit using the rm 503hd without upsetting the tv.

Snippits, i ordered a similar filter from amazon a few days ago. It does same function as one u posted. It should be here tomorrow and i will give it a shot. Mike my current tv transmitters i receive range from 16 miles to 65 miles away

I was hoping i could get away without using the preamp and unplugged it a few nights ago Tv loses signal So it is a necessity unfortunately.
