After receiving reports and testing my transmit with 2 of my other radios, I noticed that on LSB only, I sound slightly off frequency with a slightly pinched voice. Very tiny. USB, AM and FM are perfect. I haven’t had the clarifier unlocked on transmit. I just need to slightly align my LSB...
Strangely I have been told that all those new HP radios come like this from factory. It is also worth knowing that some do not remember (memory retention problem) the last channel you were operating the radio on before switching it off. When switched back on, mine automatically reverts to...
You’ll need to plug inside the radio a small connector that is usually provided by Ranger. They tape it to the bottom when new. But you will have to align & tune it once you plug it in and the radio becomes widebanded.
I also noticed something a bit strange on the second photo that shows the internals, etc. it looks like one of the boards is bent where the "header pins" attach to the front panel display?…I don’t see how I could rectify that since the pins are straight but seem a tad too long. For reference I...
A few days ago I purchased the new Ranger RCI 2995 DX HP from a store in the US and started to use the radio today. I previously owned à RCI 2995 DX CF (same radio but less Watt output). My first conclusion It that the HP is massively powerful 350W PEP SSB & AM and 70W AM-FM average. I just had...

I love m’y 2995 DX CF. I have owned it for almost 2 years now and it works very well. I bought it from GI Joe’s Radio. It was widebanded and tuned to give higher power on SSB (roughly 200w peak dead key). The radio needs to warm up in order to be dead on frequency and the SWR calibration never...
From the United Kingdom to the Reunion island was I believe my longest distance DX. I often get the US and the furthest I got there was Kentucky.
I use a Ranger RCI 2995 DX CF with roughly 180W on peak SSB, an Astatic hand mic, and a Sirio 2008 Antenna perched on my roof.
I was strongly tempted to go that route Wire Weasel! It’s a no risk course of action but I will have that nagging feeling of just covering up. Although I might still do that because I fear trying to properly tune the clarifier on SSB might be above my competence as so many stations with...
