i noticed something alittle strange with my 200. i had set everything up in the house using my 25 amp power supply and then put the radio out in my truck and rechecked everything. the am deadkey was way higher than i had set it. i thought maybe i was drawing more amperage so reset. next day...
shoulda hung on to it i bet it would get a good price on ebay. i saw one of those dak mark somethingarathers that someone had put a uniden somethingarather board in go for a for big bucks.
i emailed cobra to see if they would let loose any info about the posibility of a base model and this was their reply. anyone who thinks its a good idea should send an email to the link below maybe we can talk them into it.
Hello,,
Thank you for you e-mail. Currently we do not have any...
adjusting L21 on the frequency you want as your primary will tune in the power. best thing to do is either choose the frequency you want as your pirmary or center if you use more than one. then on this freq. dk am high power adjust t18-t23 for highest dk then adjust L21 for highest out put. now...
it has a high/low power switch on it. the low dk can be set where ever you would like it from 1/2 a watt to 4 watts at the time of alignment and tuning. would work with most small amps. dosn't seem like you would want to run to small of an amp anyhow when the radio is basicly the samething...
sounds neat but can you still see the writing for the knobs and switches? i'm not the only person that drives my truck so not knowing where stuff was might be a problem. got any pictures of one on a radio?
960 cobra specs are 32 high power am dk. mine is set at 30 and after i tuned it i'm seeing a swing of 140-150 on am 175-200 ssb. which finals does your 200 have?
i can't find anything wrong with this radio that a proper alignment won't fix. been all over it and had it runinng all weekend. reports coming back that its out doing the ranger in sound clarity and the reciever is alot less harsh but seems every bit as senceitive. i have to keep turning off...
i got my 200 last week and got a chance to tune it up yesterday. i noticed that out of the box it did sound alittle overdriven on high power on lsb with stock mic . am seemed ok. i then did the rejection mods and added talkback. i didn't do the variable talkback but i used a 33kohm resistor...
Bill at bills2way is calling it quits after years of service to radio. hes looking to sell out and has some really good deals. i'm sure his business will be missed.
i agree with DD. the bad techs will do themselfs in. look for someone with along history of radio repairs and return customers. let the hacks weed themselfs out.
for awhile now i've been wanting a magnum s-9 then all of a sudden the cobra 200 gtl came out. i've had alot of radios in my time and i just don't think your gonna get a better radio for the price. i got mine for $229 with free shipping from amazon.com. then it has a $25 0ff mail in rebate. so...
