is the install of one of these kits something someone with limited knowledge of radios could handle? i have done a few other mods but nothing of this extend. just don't want to screw up my radio.

A good tech has and knows how to use more test equipment than a freq. counter, watt meter, wire clippers and a gold color screw driver. he most often doesn't work out of a pickup.and if your lucky he'll still be in business when you need him and you'll get him to stand behind his work. time is...
to much. the 1000p (4tuber) takes a max of 60am and 120ssb. if you were using the 5 tube with your 6900 you would smoke it anyhow unless you could get your carrier way down. sorry to hear your having problems. the 1000p i had worked well.
i love it. it replaced an old kenwood ts-140s i thought sounded good on ssb but this ranger just blows it away in audio quality. i have had a 2970, 6900150(which i shoulda kept nice radio), 2985dx, lincoln(sp?) magnum 357, cobra 2000 and this radio is as good sounding as any of them. bob sure...
i got it working .there is a weather antenna nearby. i'm not sure what i did i hooked up my scanner antenna to it and it pickup the weather stastions then went back to the cb antenna and now it works? i live up very high and on my scanner can pick up 4 different weather transmiters so i thought...
i can tell you that the 1000p i had was a really nice amp. with my kenwood ts-140s driving it i got well over 300 watts on the low setting with 40 watts in on am. i'm not sure it would reach the full rated out put but the audio from it was good and clean. i think you will be very happy with...

i got my radio today. seems real sweet. i got a couple of questions though. do you guys have any luck with the weather band on it? not sure if mine isn't working or just not recieving a signal. when i turn it to weather mode the display goes blank? it says it will scan the weather band...
i have it only about 30' to the bottom of the antenna. i noticed a good increase in my recieve and it seemed to pick up less static from the air. not sure if my transmit increased all that much or not. that was a long time ago. keep in mind that is a very large antenna and may not be right for...
