    New Sirio Tornado 27

Its almost 2yrs old is all. I'm about positive the ends are just not correct. I don't think its the cable itself. I just have a 30 watt $3 iron. I just put these Amphenol ends on when I got this new Sirio. When I got it done I hooked it up and radio gave SWR alert and shutdown. I noticed I got...

    New Sirio Tornado 27

I'm probably going to get 60' of Times LMR400 from RF Parts with the ends already installed. Its a bit long for my setup but I plan on getting at least a 40' pole to get above these trees. I hope that is my problem. Its tuned fine now but I'm the type of person if something is not right it bugs...

    New Sirio Tornado 27

Yea its same coax. I put on cheap PL259's when I first got it. When I got the new Sirio I installed Amphenol ends. But that dont mean its done right. I just have a cheap 30 watt iron.

    New Sirio Tornado 27

I can get 55' of LMR400 from RF Parts with the Amphenols installed for $74 plus shipping. Thinking about just getting 60' so I have my coax when I get it 40' in the air.

    New Sirio Tornado 27

I will try to get it up higher somehow when I have time and see what happens. I want it above the trees. I need a 40' pole to do that. Thanks for all you guys input its greatly appreciated.

    New Sirio Tornado 27

Something is up with the area or coax or something. My antron 99 was on the same pole. It was to long also. Had to adjust the rings almost all the way up to make it shorter also for a good match. It was 1.2 across the 11 meter band.
  9. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

Yes the only adjustment is the length. The top section has set screw to move it up and down. According to the chart from Sirio its showing the correct flat SWR at 35" with the 1' jumper which I know is good at freq 27.600. Its LMR240 with amphenol ends professionally done. But with my 50' coax...

    New Sirio Tornado 27

I'm gonna run with this. But I'm going to get some LMR400 with the ends installed when I get a chance. I have RG8U now.

    New Sirio Tornado 27

Yea I need to find some longer jumpers. 3' is longest I have. I'm happy with the reading I got now with the 50" coax. Just not sure why its this good with the antenna at 35" instead of like 40.5" where it should be. Its almost right at 50ohms also. This coax was 50' when I ordered it. I have cut...

    New Sirio Tornado 27

27600 With 1' Jumper and 50' coax readings at 35" at the top section. Shows correct SWR with the 1' jumper for the length adjustment.
  13. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

I edited that. Those readings are at 27.600 where it shows flat like it should at 35" but with my 50' shows 2.0 SWR at 27.600
  14. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

If you read back earlier you will see where I had it 40.5" it made the SWR way higher. Thats why I think its something with my coax. It shows good with the 50' coax at 27.125 with the tip at 35". But shows high with the 1' jumper at 27.125. But with the 1' jumper its shows good SWR at the...
  15. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

Why would the SWR be different with my 50' of coax or the the 1' jumper. Maybe my coax is messed up because where it flattened out at is where the antenna is adjusted to at 35". That 1' jumper is Professionally done but I done my 50' coax ends myself.
  16. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

This is at the antenna at the 19' height. This is the freq it flattened out at. And this makes more since because the top section of the antenna is at 35".
  17. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

This is at the antenna with a 1' lmr240 times microwave jumper professionally soldered. Keep in mind this is with the antenna at 19' to the bottom with me standing under it with my head almost in the radials.
  18. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

I pushed up the antenna to as high as I can get it with my pole and this is the reading at 26'8" to the bottom of the antenna. I also turned so all 4 radials so they was the furthest away from any limbs.
  19. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

3' Jumper big increase in SWR and Resistance.
  20. Galaxy 959

    New Sirio Tornado 27

1' Jumper Not much effect on SWR but little increase in Resistance.
