Did some tree trimming today. Didn't really affect the SWR enough to tell but it shows the Resistance at 50ohms now. Going to post a couple more replies with a 1' and a 3' Jumper.
Does anyone have any detailed pics doing this? I've never soldered the ground. I just fold it back on the black rubber and screw on the PL259. Then solder the center pin only. So I should get a 180w gun to put these on with?
I've been doing it myself but may not be the proper way. I strip it back and pull the shield back over the cover and screw it on. Then just solder the center pin. But sometimes I get it to hot and have to redo it. I just have a cheap 30 watt iron.

Does anyone know if this RF Parts company is good at installing the PL259 ends? They said for $74 plus shipping I can get 55' of LMR400 with amphenol ends on it. Plus shipping.
I'm really not sure why about the unusual settings unless it needs to be above the trees. The one is real close. Limbs almost touch the radial. But my antron had no ground plain.
The tornado works awesome. Better than my antron and hardly any noise.
Vinyl siding. Metal roof. Maybe my coax ends are not done properly. I stripped and folded ground back and screwed 259 down on the ground and cover. Just soldered center pin.
Here is what my MFJ259 says. I know the ohms isn't right and wont be unless I have a 1/2 wave cut coax. On the SWR if I go up or down from the 11 meter band the SWR just increases. Its 1.4 or less across the whole 11 meter band.
Yea if a antenna says its DC grounded it will show a short. I think the Antron says its a DC grounded antenna. When I started the hobbie with my Antron 99 I was checking my coax after the pl259 installation. Well it was showing a short. Well I started looking around on google and found that the...
Yes I will measure it for you if I take it down again. I'm done for now with it set at 35". You can see may last post before yours to see the results. I was re-calibrating for each reading yes.
Ok this is kinda weird. I done all this checking by just sitting the antenna over the end of the pole because it will fit in it. That makes it easy for me doing it myself. When I used the clamps to fasten it back to the side of the pole and raised it back up just over 2' to take the slack out of...
Ok this is my final measurement for now. Its setting at 35"
Ch 1 1.1 Ch 40 1.8 Workman Meter
Ch 1 1.2 Ch 40 1.2 Radio Meter
I have 2 different radios also and they both read the same. So I think the workman may be off a little bit.
Keep in mind I had this same problem with my Antron. Most of the time you can just put them up and the SWR is good. I had to put the rings all the way to the top nearly to get the SWR 1 across the band. I don't know if its my location or what.
Ok I've had some time to mess with this today. I don't have my analyzer yet but I'm going in right direction. I still don't see why antenna has to be this short in my application to get the SWR closer to where it needs to be.
Top section measurements. Was at 41.5" when I started.
Went to:
39"...
You know what really sucks about this Sirio Tornado? You have to take it down to adjust it. So its not like you can hook up the MFJ and adjust it and watch the meter to see where its correct at. So its take it down adjust and put it back up and check it. Over and over.
Thanks everyone for all the replies. I'm just going to see what mine reads when I get my MFJ in the mail. I'm going to use my coax I have for now. If I'm not happy I will try something different.
