found the problem for those interested it was/is the silver mica 10 pf cap on the left of the 100 ohm resistor.. tracked down where the rf stopped with my scope and damn I got lucky..thanks (y)
I meant to say that it put out less power with the 8 volt ptt on.. if I unhook the 8volt ptt wire the radio will flow full power to the meter/dummy load..with 8 volt ptt wire connected the power actually gets lower say about half the power..25 to 30 watts..and the resistor will get hot enough to...
thanks for reply..as stated before I pulled and checked all four transistors.. they tested ok..as far as I can tell none of the rf is flowing thru the resistor when the linear is on as it puts out less power than with it off..still wondering if the yellow ring with the wire wraps in front of...
I'm a doit yourself electronics novice. (Like to bring stuff back to life and still learning). I am working on a 350 bottom plate that got smoked. I pulled and checked the finals with transistor tester checked out okay. There was a area of the board that some traces where burned and the 100 ohm...
This part came out of the linear plate on the bottom of a 4300-300. I replaced all the pills and with both fuses in it would keep kicking my breaker on my power supply. With only the number one fuse I could get half the board to work. Removed this piece from the board near fuse number two and...
ok here we go magnum 680 tx works fine no problems there..rx works but is very weak.rf gain knob has little to no effect on white noise also can switch between dummy load and antenna and the white noise level will not change..replaced tr 17 around the rf gain pot inside radio no help and the pot...
I have a 4 pill Davemade 2879's in it..driven with stryker 490 was seeing around 850 watts allday long..amp draw can be figured as watts(850) divided by volts (13.8 )=61.59amps..
looking for a magnum sx-350 bottom plate or any radio that has one of them installed on it..have some radios and big amps to trade or if cash is better we can do pay pal. if someone on the forum has one they bought and they never installed it I would pay a fair price or trade for it. thanks
What did turner do to the reliable and great sounding original RK 56..the new mics have dropped the telex name on them and when they did that, they dropped the ball..totally different sounding mics..there horrible sounding..has anyone tried to rework the new mic and if you have did you have any...
thanks for the reply.. cant find much on these radios as far as schematics go for the talkback and freq section.. oh well... must just be bad design from connex..
i have a connex 3600 that gets pinched down when i turn the talkback on..others say it sounds great with the talkback off but when i turn it on it seems to kill the audio.. BTW it has variable talkback from the factory.. has anyone else dealt with this problem?? also on the same radio it will...

thanks for the info..my mind is eased alittle..i was going to solder all connections and run the power leads thru the floor panel access as far away from the ECU as i can get them..use the shortest ground lead as i can and use the best coax i can afford..BTW the ECU on the Mack is mounted on the...
