Yeah I have limited test equitment. I only have two fluke 1910 and 1911 frequency counters, a tektronix 465 scope, a hp 8640b signal generator, a VU meter, a fluke true rms multimeter and a Bird 43p watt meter.
I had one these and was not impressed. If I remember correctly there is a red and a yellow wire. Both leads can hook to a 13.8 volt source. Then it's just a standard input output shield hookup preferably through Mike gain.
Yeah the 50 watts maximum is only on the signal generator with option 003 reverse power protection. Anyway I couldn't find any info on it and I was just wondering cause I'm a dumbass I think I might have keyed the mic with generator off. But all is well. Thanks.
Anybody know how many watts a 8640 signal generator can handle? Say you are connected to the rf power output and accidentally key your mic. I wonder how much abuse they can take. And no I dont have option 003. Thanks.
OK yeah, I didn't know if that was alright or not. I guess I could just run an ext. speaker to make it louder. With the demodulator do you hook it up to the back of the bench radio? How ishe it connected?
I'm looking to have the test radio hooked up to a rf sampler then to a scope then to a watt meter and dummy load. I then want to hear how it sounds through another radio preferably without headphones.... thanks
Does anyone know if after doing the swing mod in a cobra 29 ltd that it changes your transmit frequency? I am under the impression that it does but it doesn't seem like the swing kit is in the transmit frequency stage. Anybody have any words of enlightenment?
So I adjust the transmit frequency dead nuts on 27.18500 and when I check it later the fluke frequency counter reads 27.18485? I let the radio warm up and I hook up rf sampler to frequency counter. How much off frequency can you be and still be OK on am? Thanks
Yeah it still gives reasonable readings, but now I'm all paranoid I threw it off. I buy stock radios and it gives pretty close readings. I guess if I fried it the counter it wouldn't even work.
