Yeah very weird. With just the radio it shows 13.8 volts on the meter and -13.8 volts and the radio runs fine. But if I go ground on power supply terminal to other test equitment is shows 25 vdc and 11 vdc from hot on power supply to test equitment. I got a radio shack power supply and it shows...
The one giving me 25 volts DC was a Pyramid. Then I went to radio shack to get some parts and was talking to the guy there about the 25 volts. He said there should no way be 25 volts from ground to ground and he insisted that I bring him my power supply so he could look at it ( he was VERY...
So I got a new power supply a couple months ago and I am getting a reading of 25 volts DC on my multimeter when I touch the black probe to ground terminal on the power supply and the red probe to the front bnc connector on scope. I get 25 volts DC on scope, frequency counter and cover screw on...
Alright soo I had an electrician come check my outlets and he said everything was good. I got another scope and a frequency counter and same thing. When I have my power supply hooked up to my radio I get a reading of 25 volts DC from ground on radio/power supply to bnc connector on...
Yeah bought a hp 8640. I'm just trying to figure everything out. Different radios call for different test equitment so I'm just trying to put all the pieces together and see what I need and what i don't really need. It's a little confusing, so I appreciate everybody's input. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. So when they say on the new cobra 29 ltd align procedure to hook up AF voltmeter with signal generator. What exactly are you trying to get a reading on? The old alignment use to call for just an AC voltmeter. Any help would be great.
Yeah I just built one of those rf probes out of a sharpie... Works great. I was just trying to figure out audio frequency voltmeter. So your saying you can use ac voltmeter to measure audio frequency? Thanks
Thank you! That is just the reply I was looking for. So your saying to wire talkback on pa switch to solder just Brown and Orange together then one wire with resitor to center pin and another wire on the bottom pin back to pa jack right? Also don't you have to solder Brown and white together and...
