Ok my previous post I was asking about why no possible dead key. We went through and through the radio and again checked the voltages according to spec on the final and driver and found them to be way off. Assuming that was the culprit I ordered two new ones. However, instead of sending me the...
Happens regardless of which microphone we use when testing. There is no dimming at all in the LED and the TX light does stay on when holding the mic even though the power meter shows the quick drop off. Have tested the power meter on my base station and it deadkeys just fine on AM.
No it doesnt. I actually have my President Washington base normally hooked up to this antenna and have know that I have it set at a perfect 1:1. I was just using the not being able to test SWR as a way of showing what I mean by it not holding a carrier/dead key
Ive been trying to diagnose a strange problem with my DX 959. On AM when trying to check my SWRs I key the mic, it swings up to about 5 watts on the power meter and then instantly drops to zero. Ive tried using the AM Power VR-? to lower the wattage and no matter where I try to set it, when I...
So that brown is the one that takes care of the AM then I am assuming?
And again, can you shed some light on the exact purpose and job of the capacitor to the VCO?
Also, Sonoma, I notice you mention three wires going to the bottom where the 8v USB,LSB and AM are...in the picture you posted I see the Orange which I know goes to the USB and yellow that goes to the LSB...but the other wire is brown which states that it is a ground wire. Does this wire still...
I unsoldered all of the wires this morning and the radio returned to peak performance and I am getting the static again. Seems for some reason some way that we had it hooked up was completely blanking out the receice which is extremely odd. I was picking up the local stations loud and clear and...
After much trial and error and some tuning me and a buddy were able to get the Connex FC-390 working on the front mic Cobra 148 GTL successfully. It took awhile and some tinkering but it is working.
However , I have encountered some strange problems since it happened. First of all, my RX seems...
The Cobra 148 GTL front mic and side mic PCB boards are different. The link you sent I have found before. Like for instance at the bottom where the lines arch in the middle, on the Front panel version of the Cobra 148 GTL....there is no arch and the lines just go straight. That page is super...
I am sorry perhaps I havent been clear.
I know everything about the actual Frequency Counter and what the wires on it are. I am looking for a diagram showing me where on the radios board these wires are to be connected to. I am unfamiliar with the Cobra 148 GTL front mic style's PCB board...
It isnt the tuning specs that Im concerned about. Its the actual placement of the wires. Ive been unable to come up with a front mic board layout/diagram picture.
On the FC-390 there are 6 wires:
1) Black: ground
2) White: VCO O/P
3) Brown: ground
4) Red: VCC
5) Orange: USB B+
6)...
Ive been searching the internet for days upon days searching for some sort of instructions on hooking up a frequency counter to my Cobra 148 GTL with a front mounted mic hookup. Since most frequency counters have the same pattern of wires I havent been using the particular brand of F.C in my...
I recently came into a nice batch of old VHF radios used in a schools bus system. I have a bunch of base stations and a number of smaller Motorola Radius GM300s. Not sure if anyone has ever tried, but is it possible to take the amp portion of this radio and convert it into easy use as a small...
