I have one Royce, a 1-600 that I got to honor my father in law. That is what he used back in "the day". He had that with a Turner JM+2U and a Turner Signal Kicker antenna and, i remember it being a pretty decent performer. I don't have his... but I did buy one just like it... just to have it.

I just snipped this out of the SAMS for the 139XLR just to help "focus ME!". The only 7.5v zener I see is D25 (feeding CKT TRACE #6, a 7.82 volt source) but the limiting resistor is only 68 ohms. Is this the right place or is there another I am missing? Just trying to get "better dialed in"...

This is a really weird problem! I hate to seem a "pain"... but if that 150 ohm resistor was shorted I would think that it would be the ZENER complaining.... not the capacitor. The cap is a 35 volter... and we are only talking about 13.8 vdc here. That resistor however... acts as a current...

I've got to think about this..... I would think that.... if the new cap is 35v .... it should be able to take the whole 13.8 vdc across it without a problem. For the cap to heat itself up.... it seems like it would have to be drawing current.... and that would sound to me like it was...

What are you needing out of CB-267 ?

Wow! My hat is off to you two. AB mod??? That would seem to imply to me that this was originall an "AM ONLY" amp.... but was modded to class AB for SSB operation. Is that anywhere close to true? I am kind of confused though... this amp has an SSB/AM switch on it....and that switch...

Any memory of the actual value of the resistors? I can't believe that this thing is that old!!!! Is it even possible that the transistors COULD be good anymore???
