I was just looking through my local Facebook Marketplace for CB gear....
(right here in my little Deer Park, TX)
Found a guy selling 2 radios...
A Cobra 21 (plain old 23 channel), and
A Cobra 25LTD...

I have a question.
As far as the meter goes I took it out and ran it through it's basic paces and it works like it should.
Then I thought about something......
I used a DMM to check continuity between the BLK banana jack and the "safety ground" on the line cord.
TOTALLY OPEN!!!!! No...
I have one of those!!!! We went to buy a new van one time. Myself, wife, two boys. He wouldn't hit the mark she wanted... I got up and left the table and went out to our car.
About a half hour later, one of our boys came out to the car grinning. I asked how it was going. He said "mom's...
And, if I am understanding what I have read before about biasing of the RF final, you DO need it there. I am thinking that it serves as an RF choke to keep RF from splitting down into R56. The addition of the choke makes it a higher impedance path to the RF that is "just passin' through" to...
I did get a DC block.... as the DC spec on this thing is 5v MAX. The one I bought is 50v and I will use insane care beyond that. I do intend to get at least a 40 dB 10 watt and a 10 and 20 dB behind that just to throw in a bag. For the bench I have a 40 dB sampler with a 300 watt dummy...
I do need to research the PC software angle. I am just hoping that I can find a solution that works for me. I am one of those techie types that runs Linux full time at home. I do have Win10 available (but I have to reboot the laptop to get there), and I do have Wine( it is a "Windows...

This is it. A radio and electronics business in Ohio......
I ordered it online 6/4 and the delivery was made on Saturday 6/8.... I am in the Houston, TX area. That was pretty quick I think.
And...if you...
Well it came in, and the first thing I did was run self-test... which worked. But I came back the next day and ran...and it failed self test #3 which was a "signal level" issue. After researching... one of the first things suggested by the make is..... put a full charge on it!!!! And it...
Yes sir. I got one of those a couple of months ago. While I DID get it to serve my needs in antenna adjustment.... I thought that it MIGHT serve as a spectrum analyzer at LEAST in looking for harmonics.
THEN I found the video on YT from IMSAIMAN about using a NanoVNA for a spectrum...
Once upon a time....... one could key up on CH9 and ask for a REACT monitor (at least in my area!) and have a reasonable chance of getting an answer FROM REACT or even just somebody who kept a radio on 9 when they weren't doing anything else.
These days???????? I don't think there is a chance...
and, seriously... you don't need to screw the transistor to the heat sink.... the adhesive on the pads is enough? May have to look in to that......
Thanks!!!
I wonder if that would be sensitive enough to temp difference to compare a "mica" transistor insulator and one of these "silpat" insulators that just "stick on"? I've heard of those and even seen sheets for sale.... but my age makes me a little bit wary..... ;)
I know that they are not a fine lab instrument... but considering that my work is pretty much "hobby level on steroids" I believe it will do fine. I actually have an old 500 MHz Hameg 5006 (w/tracking generator) on the bench. IT is plenty fast as far as scanning. It is just so old that it...
