Alright thanks guys. Here’s the thing it’s not my first rodeo. It’s bonded it’s grounded it’s scraped and strapped. It needs a tune up because of other issues not because the radio has some noise. But while I’m doing the tuneup I’m looking into advanced options to improve things.
No I’m not throwing parts. It’s 177000 miles and needs a tune up. And not all autos get resistor plugs or wires even though they’ve been around for years
The nr-1 is the best thing I’ve seen. It filters the noise before it gets to the radio. Go on YouTube and google nr-2 noise blanker. S3vora builds them. Pure fire
It’s time to address ignition noise through a tune up. Chevy Astro with a 4.3. It’s for sure spark related. There’s resistor wires and resistor plugs available. I’m leaning toward resistor wires and standard plugs.
What’s your experiences?
So I’m looking around. An antenna is just an antenna but of course there’s differences. I have old clr2, penetrator, astroplane, 64 wave archer and a busted big stick. I currently use the 64. Current height is around 55ish feet to the top of the mast. I use it on 10/11 meters.
I’m more...
Installed it today. 102 whip on a Chevy Astro a rear drivers side with whip tip at 14.5’. Swr is 24.217 is 2.4 to 30.105 is 2.2. And of course 15m is over 8. No 15 till I put the tuner installed. 83 watts was the max output unless it’s on 15m then it was 24 watts
Radio has 1.01 firmware...
I ordered a qt80 on the 10th. Dummy me I didn’t read all the shipping and delivery fine print. I didn’t realize it ships from china. It’s in Hong Kong today. Long ol way. Using the wwdx code I saved 45 bucks though. Hope it works well. Just waiting. Maybe should’ve ordered the 60 but I liked...
Yeah I dunno. I could run 2 but then there’s a switch box and more cable and and and. I dunno. I’m thinking. A trap would be good. The the whip would be too top heavy. I have a screwdriver on my other car but that’s a waste for just these bands.
Would you be better with a 15m antenna and tune it down to 10-12 meter or a 10-12 and tune it up to 15? I ordered a qt80 mobile and am thinking around about an antenna. Was thinking about a 102 and spring whip and a cheap tuner. I can add a riser to the 102 and bring it up to 15 easy enough but...
everyone seems to be looking at these import radios that delve into 12 and or 15 meters. im looking too because im retarded i guess. what do i need with another radio and antenna system? anyway this is the nano of my 102" steel whip with a ball mount and fat spring. it shows how this whole...
