    I'ld either go the 50v or Tube route. The Tubes give much more bang for the buck. Plus they are extremely forgiving. Wild SWR swings, +- a few thousand volts on the plate...no problem. Just keep the filament voltage rock steady.

    If the amp is run correctly and built correct, then yes. Garage in, garbage out. Put the filters before amplifying and stressing your amp.

    Its not a bad idea to run a low or band pass BEFORE your amp. Also a watt meter and swr before your amp. The amp you save might be your own.

    The Radio Shack *Flavor Radio" is great for narrowing noise issues. Usually the fan, fuel pump or wires. Guess you can eliminate some of those already.

    I've never done buisness with him, but that time frame is not unreasonable. Its not uncommon to be backup over a year for a good tech. And why would he screw ya for a couple bucks...risk a rep?? I dont buy it.
