Comments Disabled as always BBi and MMM

Did watch parts of it..i do want to see the whole thing. Get John on the phone and be prepared to hear him talk..but interest radio stuff. Let me say this about the little I heard. The best techs I ever knew flew WAY under the radar...

BBI's audio is actually pretty good now. But he could still learn a lot from John my guess is he'll never admit it. Maybe I should just watch the video.

Here is a intetesting Antenna to think about

No..he owns two of them. We used one on Dodge Caravan back in the '90's. The reason was stealth. By that time law enforcement was well aware of cb interference and the problems it could cause. And me driving a vehicle with a CB type antenna in certain area's would surely get me in trouble. The...

Here is a intetesting Antenna to think about

My buddy has one sitting in his garage new in the box..It worked great as far as I can tell. We called it the roof rack antenna. Just google it, this is what I got when I did...

Here is a intetesting Antenna to think about

DDRR has been around a hell of a lot longer then Joe Gunn. Its used on MW and SW a lot. Basically a horizon loop antenna that's about a foot off the ground. It produces a low angle high gain Vertical signal. Several antennas like it were made for 10/11 back in 70's for mobiles. Talk to MMM..he...

    Shack Grounding

Always thought that myself. Separate grounds According to the incident report from the insurance company..and it's your own eyes that can see the damage. After the strike the ground wire insulation melted to ridgid piping ( all new grounding needed) .The j-box coming up from ground blew apart...

    Shack Grounding

For what it's worth. A customer of mine had a direct lighting strike, it hit a chain link fence around a central plant. It was determined the voltage went down from the properly grounded fence then UP from the ground and blew the MCC to snot.

    Shack Grounding

My antenna is 350' from my house and the coax is disconnect when not in use. Once or twice a year we actual get a thunderstorm here. But my amps and radios are bonded together to an earth ground anyway. But that's more my fear of 240 and 4800 volts.

To swing or not to swing

A clean 150% will sound gooder then a clean 200%. However they both will have some noticeable distortion on cheap receivers. That's why the commercial stations run 120% max. I run around 160% PEAK for non channel 6 tawhk'n.

    Maco M103 flatside for local????

The further you put the coax from the driven element the better. Personally I've had many more "construction" issues running vertical as opposed to horizontal. The wind kicks the crap out of vertical beams. My non scientific results are it takes more power to get the same results. ( running...

    GOLDENROD 45

I did some non scientific test with it. I worked better then a Wilson 5000 and equal to a 102" wip. Then it turned into a pretzel.

What's it gonna take to transmit DX on 11 meters

To quote my Elmer "I run the minimum amount of power to achieve the desired signal level..and I desire DFQ." Second Favorite quote " I got a call from my buddy Rilley..he said heard me doing 60 over S9 on 3885 in Tel Aviv..back it down a bit.." " A pair of 3000's does make a decent driver" "Had...

How does Motormouth Maul get away with it?

And there are a few big guns on 80/160 that are retired NYC AM radio engineers that have no problem with him..some are even on 11m from to time.

How does Motormouth Maul get away with it?

I don"t have Facebook and don"t need to defend him. But he sounded excellent when I talked to him the other day (142 miles away!) He experiments with audio and antenna's all the time and will sound different on different radios. Besides wide audio doesn't sound so hot on a cheap reciever.
