Digital phone modes of operation are quite amazing. If not magical. The audio quality is far better then ssb,am,fm..but only at communication quality.
I did some 60+ mile 2m ssb from base to mobile. Even on CB it removed all static and power line noise 10's of miles beyond AM,FM or SSB range.

Found this gem..a bargain at 1/2 the price.

He showed me his mobile DDRR antenna years ago...man does he get out. Pretty sure it doesn't have the gain of a 1/4 wave type. But what do I know. Call him, he loves to talk...and actually knows what he's talking about.
My friend has a commercial made 11m version we used as a "luggage rack"...
Love my AOR digital modem. Zero use on 11. But back in 2003 we had a bunch of guys messing with it. It's amazing the range of a stock 12watt ssb radio.

Yep. Just good people. Miss talking with Chris. Can't tell you how many times he filled my 2 hr plus commute home...then he still be talking some. He had tons of ideas out of the box. Little drama too..Why do CB/Ham tech just love drama. Guess that could be it's own thead.
I bought a well used 250amp battery charger as into pair of 8v scrubber batteries in series. In "start" mode it ran about 17vdc into the batteries...Did that for many years. Just keep the batteries outside! If you hear any AC..add water.
I remember whole setup cost me $50. Still have the charger.
Commercial stations can go as high as 120%. However SW use 100% or less due to selective fading.
I run less carrier and more mod to REDUCE the load to my transmitter. The carrier does nothing but make quiet and run up your electric bill. A little slang ain't a bad thing.
But when push comes to...
Been down that road. If you simply want to be loud, by all means go ahead. Just don't pinch that carrier too much. And forget about any wideband audio. Generally speaking...those mods sound like crap above around 160--200% on a typical CB receiver. But many exceptions to that exist.
With all...
