Golden Eagle 750 " relay help"

Thank you very much Nomad ! I found the issue and it is now working again and it did have to do with the screen voltage, it appears possibly it was old corrosive Flux in behind the HV board around the wire that carries the screen voltage and the round transistor there . Thanks a ton

Golden Eagle 750 " relay help"

Well unfortunately I had this linear sitting around for awhile until I got nice new screws for the cabinet and put them all in and set it up on my radio desk and keyed it up a few times with my golden eagle mark III and it was working fine then all of a sudden it wasn't, now it has no power...

RCI 2970N2 " no bias present" issue

Yeah, they probably had been replaced or at least messed with. They are irf520. I did end up getting the radio working last night! Which is great the main problem was that grounding tab grounding out that disc capacitor as they had that grounding tab on the component side of the board and it...

RCI 2970N2 " no bias present" issue

I now have at least some power out as I found a grounding tab shorting out C221 but it still isn't putting out what it should and still not getting a ma reading off the mirror prongs

RCI 2970N2 " no bias present" issue

I have one I think a old dog ! But am going to have to learn more about how to use it and where to start and end to look for the rf power. I have removed the driver, finals and modulator/regulator and they checked out good along with the diodes right next to the final transistors and they were good

RCI 2970N2 " no bias present" issue

Hi, I am kinda just getting started working on radios of this sort anyways and I have a RCI 2970N2 board model EPT695015BR the radio has hardly any output wattage at all but I can hear it on another radio close by, the things I notice that might be a hint to what's probably wrong with it is that...

I wonder if that disc cap took a hit when that tiny wire at the bottom was shorting it out ? Would that cause this situation?

    Kenrich Eagle VIII

Well fellas, then I most absolutely have a issue then, what would cause such a thing ? It acts just like I described, let's say a 1 watt deadkey going in, if I adjust the drive for maximum output power I get at least 900 watts deadkey on the meter, with no modulation added. Even with less going...

    Kenrich Eagle VIII

It's kinda hard to explain I guess but it would be hard to get it to adjust correctly with let's say a cobra 2000 or something with a 4 watt deadkey, it does real well on my 2950 but I can set it low enough to where it is hardly deadkeys anything, I set the "drive" so the box deadkeys around 200...

    Kenrich Eagle VIII

One thing that seems kinda different from all my other boxes though is the "Drive" adjustment on the front, all I know is I can't adjust it for max deadkey output or max smoke like I do all the other tube linears I have, with a 1/4 watt deadkey or less going in I can adjust that drive where it...

Hi, tubes all max the meter out on a B&K 747b tube tester the box is now putting out well over 900 pep avg. On a MFJ giant lots more on peak but that's running it kinda hard with 25 watts pep going in. So she is doing exactly what she is supposed to do. The issue was that tiny piece of wire...

Browning Mark III " reciever issues "

Indeed Nomad but just makes me wonder how, the tube had to be bad from the start because the radio and the meter never worked correctly and the tube had tested great and appeared the getter was in the tube, not sure what occurred but once that tubed actually cracked and I replaced it the...

Browning Mark III " reciever issues "

Lone behold I got home from work and started playing with the reciever again and it didn't take long to locate the issue! LOL ! That tube had been tested and tested good but when I went to move it from V5 to V7 and after I inserted it this happened, it had to have cracked when I installed it...

Browning Mark III " reciever issues "

Today I also read the old thread on the drifting fix That Nomad has, for the most part I paid attention to the part where he cleaned the back of the dial shaft with twine to make a good ground, I will definitely be looking into that as it makes sence but not so sure that is going to fix the...

Browning Mark III " reciever issues "

I did finally get it to start receiving last night on and off, it would work one time and not the next. Seems like anytime I would tap on or resolder the joints around the variable cap for the channel selector or the coil or anything in that area the recieve would come back, one time I was even...
