Tr401, cct trace is 27. Seems to normalize at about 90° when in rx. Ssb goes up to 120. Im gonna replace the paste with a top of the line CPU paste.also add a 2 inch muffin fan that will expel the heat fom the rear. See what that will do.
No not off hand. I can get that number off the sams today. Its the big to3 c1618 left back corner. Ive heard talk of people saying its just better to swap it for a brick switching power supply. I do have one here. 30 amp. I just need to take an AC tap off of it for the clock. Im using a 100 amp...
The transistor gets really hot. The heat sink too is really hot. Im gonna redo the heat sink compound and see how it goes. I will remove the load from the power supply section by lifting the orange wire. Then do a current draw test to see the flow. I think the transistor itself could be the...
Ive been working on a 457 here and there. Recapped it including the tantalums. Started to do the alignment and found there to be 16 volts out rather than 13.8. Pulled the regulator and it tested fine. Ended up being a disc capacitor that had a 2k ohm short across the 2sc1618 base to collector...
Id like to unlock a few clarifiers. Namely the cobra 2000gtl and realistic trc457. Im looking for TRIED AND TRUE schematics along with tutorials. I prefer receiving information from members who have improved versions that keep the center on the clarifier rather than to get those "quick mods"...
UPDATE: Turns out that it was a resistor that had good continuity on onecsidenofcthe board, and no continuity on the other side of the board. A good reflow solved the problem. Thanks for the support guys!
It could very well be. I did reflow what looked like bad solder on the bottom of the board. This was fixed before I got it. Some runs were repaired. Some bad solder joints could be or runs on the top side for sure. Im gonna flux the area and reflow all that has to do with 48 to each collector...
I appreciate the info. I am fully aware how the sams spread out connections to indicate points of contact. At the top 1, 50 and 48, i get the correct voltage. That rules out transformer winding issues right there. Thanks though. Appreciate the help.

I have this radio and Im pulling out my hair with it. I only have the sams for it and I m having the wierdest problem with voltage getting to the driver and final. These voltages all appear correct. The transmitter gets its voltage from #1. The next part shows #1 feeding a diode going up throgh...
Yeah I saw that. Nothing in the parts list either. Found it strange that it appeared to have been gone over with what seemed to be a fresh cold solder flow. Im gonna start at changing the VCO to see if I get my 5.5 volts down to 3.6v and take it from there. Thanks for the confirmation on that...
Thanks! I ordered 2 from microchipz. My slug is fine. Nobody tried to mess with it other than me. I think the vco in the lafayette 140 ssb is the same. I have a good one here. Gonna try swapping it out to see if the change causes the lafayette to die or work, and the superbase to work or be the...
Thatd great and exactly what I needed to hear. If I get the VCO working yhen I can move on down the page if its working. I asked him to send me an invoice for 2.
