You have quoted me saying RF appears ON the braid. I did not say that RF travels through it, like you implied. Just so there are no more misunderstandings, The outer shield keeps the electromagnetic wave contained ,between the outer shield and the inner conductor while the RF travels from one...
Well, I decided to switch over to the 5 element on the flat side from the ground plane because I wasn't hearing anything on 38LSB. I tell you what, it's a whole new world out there. I heard a couple of guys talking. Maybe hitting me at 3 1/2- 4 S units. I decided to give them a call. The first...
I checked IC3 (TA7310P) and have my 10.245MHz on pin4, my 16+ MHz on pin1 and my 27+ MHz out on pin9. All other voltages on this mixer are good, so I can rule it out. TR14, TR15, TR16 are all good. Voltages in tx mode are what they are supposed to be. The audio transformer and diode are good as...
I sold mine for 250 with new stainless hardware and cleaned it up with some steel wool. It went as soon as I put it up for sale. Yours should go quick. What are you, or did you replace it with, Steve?
I have a Cobra 29 LX made in China. The radio worked fine. I keyed it up and unkeyed it about 4 times in a row into a dummy load and it just stopped transmitting after that. Receive works fine. The PA works fine. The radio does go into tx mode on the display but has no RF output or modulation. I...
38LSB opened up this morning around 10 Central time. . I had a pipeline to Texas. Spoke with about 4 or 5 guys around Dallas. Good signal reports going both ways :)
I always match my resistors and capacitors as well to make sure I have a good balance. It wouldn't be a bad idea seeing you have to rebuild it. I use 1% resistors and 5% capacitors. Use your meter to find the components that are as close as possible. Good Luck !
You have 3 transistors for your AM mod amp. Use a voltmeter and take some measurements in AM mode on these transistors and compare with what I have below.
TR49 Base 6.10v in tx
Collector 12.10v in tx
Emitter 5.6v in tx
TR50 Base 12.10v in tx
Collector 5.60v in...
Physically they will drop in but the electrical characteristics are different. You would have to change input and outputs to accommodate the higher collector to emitter and collector to base voltages on the MRF454's. The MRF455/SRF2072 will work fine.
Here you go. 1 pic is of the 8 element quad on the ladders waiting for the crane to lift it up on the tower. 2nd pic is of it up on the tower. 3rd pic is after the ice storm. You can see the ice weighing down the spreaders and wires...lol
Just copy the LIGHTNING 4 element quad. Its a true full wave and beats any other quad out there. IMO I had an 8 element quad up north that part of the 42 foot long boom broke in half from a nasty ice storm. I was sent a replacement boom section and ended up making 2- 4 element quads from it. I...
Talked to a few stations in Texas this morning using a stock Galaxy DX-98VHP. It is a customers unit that was in for repair. It has rockin audio but hey, it's a typical Galaxy and needs the clarifier turned every so often to stay on frequency.
