You are correct. there will always be some reactance. Matching at the antenna makes the antenna system as a whole resonant. even though the antenna itself is Not resonant by making a conjugate match.
Yes there is so much more to it. It depends on the situation.
Things that are unknown and we cant see.
Like CTR said on another thread its very complex and You can argue
until the cows come home. For almost a meaningless result.
The first question i would ask is, the radio itself...
LC this is from bird.
5. In-Line RF Power Meter Location
The location of the directional power meter within the transmission system may have a significant effect upon the ability of the instrument to resolve antenna VSWR.
The prime consideration related to the location of the power meter...
I have a 2.5.1 matcher and air wound choke as you can see in the picture.
It has to be an impedance issue.
When i take the matcher off and put the coax with the choke only back into the feedpoint of antenna and retune the antenna for lowest swr is when the pos preamp does not work...
RPC i agree 1/2 wavelengths will reduplicate.
LS i agree on being updated.
543 I guess i have been lucky mine works fine.
The rea you mention sounds cool. I will check it out.
Good info.
Cool ...... that is what its all about. I know what you mean about awesome.
I ran the heil hc-4 element on the ts-50 AM for a while. You just cant get any
cb/ export to have the audio sound quality as the Hf rigs,(y)
Very Good. I have a tx 300 built in the 80's It has a stiff regulated ab bias. It is the only cb amp i have ever seen with true bias. It uses the same bias scheme as the old metron 1000 hf linear that is no longer in production.
If i didnt still drive a truck, i would be long gone too.
I think this will help alot of operators.

Based on the above, a perfect 100-watt PEP transmitter would have:
25 watts carrier power, as seen on any type of power meter without...
True. I guess we have to give up and except the facts.
But in the meantime see if you can cut off the nasty signals so i can run the ts-50 . i will be much happier:)
