Notice the last paragraph. This explains my case best.
MFJ-259 measuring antenna resonance
« Reply #3 on: December 27, 2006, 07:36:00 PM »
To adjust an antenna to resonance, you adjust it until the reactance is zero. The value of the remaining load resistance is...
The reason efficiency peaks is because SWR is also lowest around resonance.
We have to be careful how we word this stuff. It is not resonance that causes the peak, it is also NOT SWR that causes it.
It is a system issue, and SWR cannot be low if the antenna system is not resonant.
BUT, a...

First of all, using the word "resonance" is pointless. I'm not sure where that came from, but it is a nebulous parameter. By definition resonance is when voltage and current are in phase, or when reactance is zero. So what do you call "resonant"? Do you mean when the imaginary part...
Lol..... nothing like some humor.
I think its best you and i sit back and Listen.
CTR wrote the book on this stuff.
Problem is he has very limited time.
The Db has the knowledge to ask the correct questions , especially for LEARNING.
That should be the Key here.
Thanks again for w8ji advice. The below is from Tom
Many high gain high efficiency antennas or antenna systems are technically not "resonant antennas". Most AM broadcast towers are not resonant lengths, although most are tuned and matched at the base, there would be little difference if they...
The below is very Good advice . Thanks to Tom w8ji consultant engineer.
That just isn't true as a blanket statement.
Resonance does not determine efficiency.
Efficiency is dictated by (radiation resistance/radiation resistance + loss resistance)times 100 when both are normalized to the...
I got so use to the kenwood ts-50 not making the pop in speaker , that the ss3900 was driving me nuts.
It took me 2 years of research to find this modification.
Seems the cb crowd could care less. That includes the majority of cb techs.
Anyone have questions , I am willing to help.
Tony
The 2 caps in front of the audio ic eliminates the nasty pop on transmit that is heard in the external speaker when the mic is keyed.
Bad design . Typical cb junk. The audio ic is switched off instead of being biased off as should be.
The wire in between the pa / ext spk jacks on the...
I had the same problem with the recieve being very quite and had to turn volume up on distant stations. And turn back down on close up stations. My problem was the antenna not being tuned correctly.
