I was told today at a hamfest that you can replace 3-500z tubes with 4-400b tubes and it is plug and play in other words I do not have to do anything to the SB220 is this true??? I know the 4-400b tubes around here are easier to find used. Thanks Jimbo
Black Cat--Seeker or Wawasee all same amps basically. I have about 5 or 6 of these. They will increase modulation so do not use them with a power mike or mic gain turned up too much because it will cause a squeal, fuzziness or over modulation they increase modulation themselves. Also do not use...
Nomadradio I completely unpluged all connectors at mic board and TX still on . I guess CPU problem really too bad it was such a nice radio and looked like new. Thank You All so much.
Sonoma I have some basic electrical knowledge but not sure enough to repair radio without knowing exactly what to replace. The mic plug area has a small board but no diodes on it just disc capacitors. I am looking for print. Board is marked ept295013z. Yeti Communications I agree with you also...
It will transmit and receive. By turning power on and off and holding down shift button and up down I can change channel slowly. I believe it has something to do with TX light on all the time. I think radio somehow thinks it is in a TX mode and then channel selectors will not work. Could a...
Radio does transmit and receive I unplugged plug in from mic board no change still shows TX in right hand part of screen. I found out that I can get buttons to change screen if I hold that button down and turn power off then on. What I mean is if I want to shift I hold down shift button turn...
My 22b is stuck on channel 17 none of the buttons that effect channel change will work and channel selector does not change it either It is transmitting and receiving. The tx sign is also on in corner. This radio looks like a 2950 button type but a base. Any help please.
I picked up a Palomar 300a not working it is a amp with transformer in separate box. I replaced Keying transistors and amp was working but on just key up in power operate mode transformer has a hum. I replaced all capacitors and power rectifier diodes but on key up in power operate mode still...
BBB I will check but I believe he said one channel transmits. I am reading the site you posted and it is very interesting. I think he was hoping to hook up a VFO on transmit and do away with PLL he has taken to some tech around here and he did some work but did not fix. Jerrys CB in Toledo...
I have a local here who has a Mark IV and transmitter not working right he was told he could use a VFO to transmit on and asked me what model or number would work and I do not know. Does anyone know what VFO he could use to hook up and transmit on his radio. Thanks Jimbo
I would not worry about sticking with one type for easier repair because if bought right the radios will be a if they do not work you throw it away because of the cost of repairing them. Any 40 channel mobile will do just fine with a power supply because of cost but base wise any 40 channel...
Found problem one of the 100mfd 150v capacitors was bad replaced both and now amp has almost no hum when keyed. I had did a quick check when they were in line but the one did not show bad until I removed and checked it out of amp. Thanks for the help. Jimbo
I am working on this amp for a friend when I received amp had a bad vibrating type hum from transformer when just turned on I replaced power rectifier diodes and amp has no hum and is very quiet when power on. Amp is working fine power output wise also but when keyed has a small hum coming...
I picked up a SB220 and during cleanup of amplifier the resistors on top of capacitors look like they got hot so I want to replace them . They are a 30k 7 watt resistor not sure of voltage required , there are 8 to be replaced. I googled them and nothing came up and have not been able to find...
Alan said that The OB2 is a 100 V regulator for the oscillator. It keeps the oscillator stable so it doesn't drift during power line fluctuations. So I ordered one and will install it when it get here. Thanks Alan
Put the relay in and radio keying like it should. Wavrider I did also found a problem with microphone it was a powered D-104 and causing radio to have a squeal during keyup .Thank you wavrider and others for your help. Jimbo 165
