i used a double zepp-style vertical and it worked pretty good. but making each leg 5/8~ and shortening the ladder feed to find the 50ohm point definetly worked better for a big ol broadside gain lobe
check out the extended double zepp. near-lossless balanced feed matching, 1.25 length total, big broadside gain. if you want to match a full wave, you need a quarter wave piece of ladderline, which makes a 50ohm load, and then a 1:1/dirty coax choke
just got into messing with this. i had to build a vox-ptt on perfboard which involves a preamp. its pretty neat, but i see more europeans in the early AM hours than anything. its pretty dead in the evening when i come home from work. anyone on here mess with this?
if im not mistaken the n2 is a pair of the ekl9530s, and the few duallys i've built with them top out around maybe 200 with 30 in PEP. the one time i saw 300 was when i make a single 9530 driver and dumped 80 watts into it (do not recommend)
its not a fet. its an HG 2sc1969 in class C. i wouldn't run a fet like that. but yea i did a bunch of sh1ttesting and yea nothing gets past slightly warm, looks good on scope. for some reason things heated up more when i had the tip120 npc mod in there which is usually not the case. i got my...
so im back on it. threw another HG in, getting slightly less PEP. took the NPC mod out, for somereason things got hotter with that in reducting the carrier (weird) and it runs good with a 9w DK so i think im just gonna let it ride as a stout rig. maybe put it in front of 4xerf9530 mosfets which...
soo i found the problem. the relay had too much ohmic resistance in the signal path. swapped it out and im now getting much better numbers.
if you do a 1x2 layout with these fets forced air is an absolute must. they LOVVVEEE current, especially in SSB. theres a reason why you don't see many...
what i would do is instead of rf sensing, i'd wire the relay trigger right to a point in the radio connected to the ptt or something so there would be no delay needed
took a pause and life got in the way....again. so last night i was fkin around with it. its too much drive for a single 9530 ekl FET and the PEP is enough to push the input swr up apparently annnnnnnnd i blew the HG final. idk why but it seems like HG 1969s are pretty delicate. i think somewhere...
i do not. i built a rocketbox250hd kit and started with that, and then made changes like biasing it a little harder. the single mos stage was a whole lotta trial and error
