New Sirio Vector 4000 on the Tower.

Strange ,,,my radials i am certain are 106 inch long ..its still on a 10 foot pole as i have not got it on the mast yet after repairs from storm Ciara and dennis in the uk ..i will give it a measure ...i think i measure from the bottom bolt to top of the ring

    Modified Vector 4000

oh of interest i made a vid beefing up my V4K after the weeks of storms we had in the uk topping 70+ mph winds we had ..i was very pleased how the main radiator stand up to it ..it did help being on a flexi mast ..it was going over at 90 degrees..an Imax 2000 on the same coast did snap its...

Ok i am guessing there must have been a response to the pdf at CB antennas.com but its probably 5 years back in this thread and take 2 days to find so what was the thoughts on this article...

    Will it match..... question

no i have no tuning problems ..i was just wondering thats all

    Will it match..... question

ok say we get a SWR reading presumably higher when the SWR meter is moved from between the TX and ATU to between the ATU and ANT what would happen to the SWR reading if the meter is after the ATU if we bypassed the ATU or removed it ?

    Will it match..... question

OK we have a antenna that is not resonate but with a ATU we get a good match at the radio ..now if you take the SWR meter that is now between the radio and ATU that is currently reading a low SWR and move the meter to after the ATU so its in between the ATU and the antenna will the meter still...

A very big thanks for that. hoop and radials are easy to remember at 1/4 wave...is the radiator a little shorter than early on in the tread ?? this works out for 27.5mhz to be less than 28 feet ....i will still use what you say as you are the one with decades of field testing ...is this with...

    Modified Vector 4000

HO......that's not very helpful...especially when a big percentage of your own previous posts are asking for help ...so i think unless you have something useful to add to this thread i suggest you don't ...... i am thinking with the very basic mistakes you have made with gain etc that maybe...

sounds logical ...math definitely are not my strong point but i could manage that

Marcius The reason i was asking how far away your feed line is hanging from your radiator is because i was going to model it ....any plans i see for a vertical zep dont have the feed line hanging next to the radiator ..i am pretty certain it will uptest the pattain ....i will measure the...

    Modified Vector 4000

i have found measurements ..but just interested how far away your feeder is hanging next to the radiator ..a gestermate will be fine

Marcius interesting antena ..how far away is the feeder from the radiator? what feeder do you use?

    Modified Vector 4000

Sounds a lot of hassle and expensive coax just to change TOA ...i think i would just switch the mast in or out ...a mast normanly when connected to the bottom of the antenna makes the antenna think its longer than it is and buggers up the patten and puts the TOA upwords ...try modeling a I10K...

    Modified Vector 4000

thanks Marconi but the post i was looking for has the formula to scale the antenna for different bands.....it was 3 lots like xxxx times the mhz for the ring.radials and radiator...i did take note at the time but i forgot what i named the file or which computer i saved it on ...It may not even...

    Modified Vector 4000

Well that was a long read ..i read this tread to find some figures that i think shockwave posted and i must have missed them reading this long thread again ..i give the back story I have only just got my head around some modeling software (MMANA) and decided to model something i can make...

    DX Commander Multi-band vertical

it is easy to make with out the kit...however they seem pretty cheap (relatively) and if you evan counted your time at 1/2 rate by the time you got all the lengths corect .....i know with folk playing with fan dipoles (which that's all the DX Commander is but vertical).... standard lengths...

    scaling antennas

yes just make a sliding connection and make permanents when corect ...mine have always been temporary antennas made out of scrap ..a fiberglass hammer shaft is good to replace the wood in the photo ....if i remember i think 1/3 from the antenni end of the ring may a good starting point ...but...

    scaling antennas

so you are saying i need to scale the matching ring as well ,,,,,i did not know as they are both 5/8th wave end feed ..i think maybe the impedance may be the same for both at the feed point ... which if it was the ring i would think could be the same size for both ...
