I bought a $100 bj-300 linear(?) amp and attempted 1 time to hook it up and to put it mildly, it did not go well...AT ALL! I've never seen so much screeching feedback , high swr, ant warning lights going off at once! I'm surprised something didn't explode or at least burst into flames! Lol...
I just picked up a blue label Palomar 225 with 2 455's (see pics). I am wondering if it's possible to eliminate the delay when keying it up, and when were these made, if they are "good" amps (better than black label 225's?), and how much they should actually put out with a proper "low dead key"?
I have an older Uniden PC68XL (made in Philippines, ser#95002515), and am wondering if there's any"swing mods" to adjust the dead key between 1 watt or less to max power for this radio, like there is for cobra 29's?
I have a Golden Eagle 150 linear amp that appears to be completely"stock" and in good condition, but I have been told that my signal sounds louder, but "crunchy" when I am on the air. Does anyone know what would cause this? Also, what is the variable resistor attached to the choke on the center...
I recently aquired a Palomar 225 linear amp (has black label & 2 MRF 455 pwr transistors, not blue label). It has a burnt (so badly I can't read the value) 2 or 3 watt resistor right next to the transmitter input. Does anyone know of a schematic for the amp? Or what other components maybe...
