    I dont like Bird meters, I run astatic or MFJ. My tech uses an old Drake meter and its as accurate as a Bird.

    I got it in a trade and the previous owner stated it won't transmit. Is it a keying transistor and what part do I need to replace? BTW, yes I know about high voltage in these amps. Thank you.

    RE-CAP My SBE Console V

    I recapped mine and it brought it back alive. Those console vs are notorious for bad solder joints and they are double sided board. Kinda a nightmare to work on. I've owned probably 5 or 6 of them and only 2 ever worked right. Another problem is the "speech spander" board goes bad as the chip...

    A buddy's trc 457 has very tinny audio on ssb. Hes asking if there's a way to remedy the audio. Hes tried several mics including the stock mic.
