Just an update to this:
I just got off the phone with Eric @Palomar , and had a nice chat.
He told me the supplier that was making the SL-41 Microphone (and the Magnum 1 radio) has gone away. They have the parts too, but no one to build them at the moment... but I too am now on the waiting list...
Here is the Royce 600 Mic wiring Schematic
If the Headset you are looking at is wired for a Cobra Style 4 Pin, you will need to rewire it and swap Pins 1 & 2 to work on the Royce
According to Simon The Wizard's BLOG, the Chinese Factories won't build a SSB version because there is no real demand for them, they sell a boatload of AM/FM rigs though.
An AM/FM/SSB in the form factor of an Anytone Apollo II would be killer
Yes and it is pretty simple.
Figure out the Mic wiring
Get a STDP (ON-ON).
Wire the ground to the center pin of the switch
Transmit Wire to one of the outside pins
Recieve to the last pin
Switch in one Position will be RX, flip the switch for TX
If you want to be real cool use a DPDT...
I have at fairly stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway...
Does anyone have a clean method of mounting a fan on a small amp like the KL-203P?
I picked up a ln 80mm 12V fan and wired it to the Power switch on the amplifier... that was the easy part...
What is a good clean method on keeping it...
Thank you for the kind words, gents...
If anyone is really bored, here is Part III

Well, I threw the Apollo II on the bench and did some looking, poking, and tweaking..
Took a bunch of photos, then did a bunch of typing...

Hey Wait a minute...
Are you saying there are radio operators that use CB's channels 37/38/39 in SSB Mode?
Never imagined trying that... my IC-718 stays on frequency WAY too well......
