If anyone else out there has a grant xl and doesn’t mind removing a few screws and one cover i would greatly appreciate it. I’m really only trying to figure out where three wires go.
I would really like...
Idk about anybody else, but I can deal without cheap Chinese junk for a few months, if it means not worrying about getting a virus. And yes there is always lots of conspiracy theories out there. I remember a guy trying to tell me the California wildfires where really government created nanobots...
The cb/pa switch is factory, all the switches appear to be factory, there is no channel mods done to this radio. Talk back was done with a resistor on pa and external speaker jacks. Really the only mods at all that I can find on this radio is the echo board. I think the white wire from the three...
The only place I personally know off is Kilgore’s electronics in forest hill, Texas... basically Ft. worth. He is an older gentleman, That has lots of experience repairing tube type equipment. Whether or not he excepts mail in repairs I’m not sure. I guess you could call, and the worst he could...
Better pictures, the echo board is a eptossb50 that I’m guessing is made by rci, and probably from the 90s, so now it’s vintage, rare, super cool, nos, mint condition lol. Don’t miss out on this super duper duper duper duper echo board
I picked up this grant xl about six months ago and it works... and the echo board works as well. I just don’t like echo boards, and I don’t want it in my grant xl. I really do not want to buy another grant xl just to put this one back to factory. If any one can help me by looking at their grant...
I bought an old astatic minuteman II, on eBay a few months ago, it had an old 7v 0r whatever it is mercury battery probably from the 70s in it, some how by the grace of god, it did not leak. there was a very small amount of corrosion on the end of one of the wires inside the yellow plastic...
One last little update, I replaced the green channel display with a red one, since the green one had some burned out segments.
Now it does not miss a beat. I also polished a bezel from the parts radio because it was in better shape and bought a new faceplate for $20 bucks lol.
Soon I will start...
Hey lc, Yes I will start a new thread for the alignment, I’m going to have a bunch of questions for sure, my cheap Chinese oscilloscope probes from eBay finally showed up in the mail. I’m still studying about how to use the oscilloscope, it does not seem to difficult but I’m still figuring it...
I love the old 73-91 suburbans, and 73-87 Chevy trucks I’ve had a few over the years... it makes me wish I had never sold my 1982 k5 blazer. Those body style trucks are so easy to work on it’s not even funny there is tons of room under the hood and the engine is not stuffed under the...
Dr Frankenstein voice on: its alive it’s alive. I repeaked l22 and l19 and l18. I have tx and audio I can hear my self on another radio through a dummy load in the same room. It still needs an alignment but im very happy. The carrier power is not balanced between 1-40 but it’s alive
Thank you for your help Andy, I really appreciate you and lc taking the time to help me, I don’t know any other way to learn, than with at least a little knowledge and advice from some people that have experience fixing a radio. So thanks again to both of you
