Power supply update. Part RCA29 came in installed and all works great. I also added the variable mod to the supply. All astron supplies 7-10-20-35-50 amp with or without meters has the provisions on board to make the power supply variable 0-15 volts. thanks to all who replied.
Here is a link on...
Well I replaced the 723 and the 2n7331 and same results voltage but volts drop to almost 0 when keying a radio. I have the RCA29 on its way and will see what happens.
I will have to wait until the part comes to do some voltage checks its a pain to get to and remove the cover.
I have tried 3 radios and the same problem.
I just ordered the RCA29/TIP29 and will try that. The power supply is on a shelf and wired to a binding post block. So a pain and will check part when it gets here next week. The other 2 parts I replaced cost less than $8.00 and the RCA29 is 2 for...
So im back with the Astron power supply.
Seems the volts are there 13.7 volts but when a load like keying a cobra 29 it sucks the voltage down I replaced the 2n3771 and the LM723 with same problem.
So now im suspecting the RCA29/TIP29.
The regulator board looks fine no burnt spots and any...
Well i think I found something that might work its a speaker to line/rca output.
Has 2 channel only need 1 channel and has transformers built in. Suppose to take speaker level and drop to rca level so you can add an amp to the adapter. Ships from China so should get around July 25th. Hope it...
No this is a special made board with 8 channels and 11 minutes record time so you can record the 8 channels or do a complete 11 minute record and has erase and other features just trying to make a watergate box, the mic sounds great just need to get the line audio in correct.
So you can use 2...
Yes I know about the audio would have to be at a set level and if changed by the main audio knob chance of distortion. Its like the PP-1 20 second record boards on how they worked, the same way the record audio was controlled by the radio audio, a trial and error. Ill figure out something.
The...
I need something that will fit in an existing project box. Need it to be used on different radios so taping inside the radio is a good idea but cant do it that way. I do have the TR51 section and will study it to see if it will work.
thanks
Great idea ill look into that thanks but i thing they grab the line audio before the audio chip and would not help in the external jack out to lower to line level.
I know i can do that but dont want to. Im looking to get something made in a project box so I can use on different cb radios with the ext jack and the 1/8 speaker plug. So i need something small that can be put in line with the cb audio > convert to line audio and then into recorder. And hope it...
Hi
Thanks for the reply but I have a special recorder board that takes line in to record that is built into a project box. It also has a built in mic on it to either record with mic or line in. So that is what im after been looking and there are pre made adapters from speaker audio to line...
Hi.
Looking to see if anyone has any suggestions to convert a cb radio extension speaker jack to a low level line out audio?
Just needs to be 1 channel as the ext jack is.
I need this for recording purposes as the regular audio is over powering and does not sound good so was hoping to try...
I installed a channel kit in my cobra 29gtl.
The Am radios with the 858 dont broadband too well for power.
I installed a kit with regular 40 and 40 below channel 1 so from 27.405 down to 26.515.
The radio is quite hard to get decent power from top to bottom.
I have a channel kit in my Cobra...
The 36.380 is a trippler circuit and the 36.380 divide by 3 = 12.126. So that is the actual frequency of the xtal even though its marked 36.380 most trippler xtals are marked this way. This is why I need some of the schematics to see the pll in these radios. Might of been wrong thinking it was...
I have all the cobra XLR 858s schematics I just needed the 36.380 section just in case there is a difference in the listed radios. Seems cb tricks does not have these models. Was wondering if there is another place to find.
thanks tom
