There used to be a guy here in the DFW area that built these antennes for years and everybody thought they were great.
I lived about 40 miles from him as the crow flies and the best one I ever heard him talk on was what he called a 7/8 wave.
Don't know how long it was but I could hear him...
I ran one back in the mid 70's for a while with the boom mounted at 74 feet.
With 5 watts I could talk to and hear barefoot mobiles 50 miles away while at the same time completely blocking out a loud female on a Browning station that was only 2 miles from me.

That and the fact that it weighs 5 pounds more than a Moonraker 4 and raising in on a push-up pole can be quite a job in itself.
Mine is missing the copper DC ground coil.
If you can give me any info as to it's size, number of turns etc. it would be much appreciated.
