yep, I have seen as much as 10 watts difference on some radios, I currently am using a Cobra 148GTL ST and there's a good 6 watts difference between USB and LSB on this thing, and this is a fairly new radio compared to some I have worked on in the past.
contact dodgem at dm cb radio products dodgem250.com i had him do a few cobra 29 radios for me and he said something about changing some resistors on the board to dim the blue lights he did a great job with mine
yeh its pretty easy to do. some of the cobra radios will have a backing plate to hold the meter in place but just trash the plate and put a dab of hot glue on the sides and rock and roll.
