i have seen people use cookie sheets before. i have also seen where guys with installs on there motorcycles with trunks use a small piece of metal under the lid and attach the antenna to that. they all claim to have had really good results.

the antenna in the first post is fine as a ham antenna. if you look on the specks page is states scanner/ham antenna as well as on the package. if you actually go to the store and look it has the freq's it works on listed on the package.

i will. right now im running a IC-V8 and a VX-800 for 2m. 70c isnt very busy here but i want to have it just in case, plus the local sheriffs office uses 460mhz so i can use it for a scanner.

if you only need 2m i dont think you could go wrong with the 777. like i said, im ordering the dual band next week and it will probably take a week or 2 to get to me. i will be able to tell a lot once i open the box for the first time.
