wow i fixed it.
somehow in my internet explorer setting it was set to never refresh web pages every time i visit. real weird. I dont remember ever messing with it.
oh well.
Its fine now and i can see my posts now without having to get on my blackberry.
A few months back I manually deleted everything in my temporary internet folder and it seems to have effected browsing this forum. I'm using internet explorer.

yea i kept the mic gain all the way down....
the power on the other hand.... as i go up the swr goes up...
when the power is all the way down... i have very low swr reading.. 1.0 on the radio and on the external meter...
as i turn it up though.. the swr starts going up.

the built in swr meter on the radio showed me 1.5-1.6 across the board, that was while i had the external meter in-line with a 2 foot jumper.
when i removed the external meter and connected the antenna directly to the radio, the built in swr meter jumped up to 2.0 ish all across.
i didnt...
i triple checked my numbers before i started trimming....
i started the whip somewhere half-way and my initial numbers told me i was long... so i started lowering... and the swr went down.
thats when i started trimming and it was getting better and better..
my tri-mag mount came with 17...
no.... in fact i saw someone drive by with a predator on their truck and i was tempted to flag em down...
is cutting 6 inches off a 5 foot whip out of the ordinary?
I really didnt want to trim it at all if i didnt have to but they swr was getting better and better every inch i trimmed so...
ok so heres the deal...
I lowered the output power so my swr meter would be readable and i determined that my antenna was tall...
so I started trimming untill my numbers were closer together and now the best i can get it to is this point.... i had to hack off a total of 6 inches.

how would you test swr without it...
Im running an Galaxy 95T2 with a predator 10k on a tri-mag mount on the roof of my F-350.
im measuring with a radio shack swr meter.
after calibrating im getting a real high reading on the swr meter..... well in the red.
but i know this radio has a built in swr circuit and swr meter...
